Erm....Blades Sword?

Post » Wed Oct 24, 2012 12:36 pm

So I just retrieved the Helmet for the Legion at Korvunjal (sp?). I was walking back, taking the scenic route as i wanted to pass through Morthal. Well, I stopped by the Nightgate Inn, and one of the people in the Inn...name begins with an F, I think...had a damn Blade katana! I searched his inventory, and he also had a valuable book on his person. I tried to pickpocket it, but he caught me at attacked! I easily sent him to his chosen afterlife. Lo and behold, I'm the proud (er...or not so proud) owner of a shiny blade sword! I think I'll keep it. With the "Weapons on backs" mod, it looks pretty boss with my character.

My question is, what was this guy doing with such a weapon? I don't remember any such character involved with the blades in my past play throughs.

Also, THIS is a good reason not to fast travel. If i just zipped back to Solitude, i would have missed out on this.

Another sliiight off topic, but what's this blade called Dragonbane in the Blades' hide-out once it's found? I once just randomly went there and it was on a table. I don't remember anything in the MQ having to do with that sword, yet it looks like a weapon with pretty big authoritaaah.

It's a Blades Katana that does an extra 25 pts(I think) damage to dragons.
You pick it up during the Alduin's Wall quest.

Just a Blades' Sword with a unique enchantment.

Something bothers me about that though. The Blades Swords are Akaviri in make, but Alduin says "You may wield the weapons of the ancient Nords, but you are not their equal!" when the weapon could not have possibly been the weapon of an ancient Nord. At least not one who faced him. The Akiviri, and their swords, arrived in Skyrim after Alduin was already defeated didn't they?

Maybe Alduin meant your Thu'um, not any physical weapons you might have been using. If it's scripted dialogue I assume he'd be saying that even if you were a pure mage fighting him with destruction magic and summoned thingies.

And, yeah, the Akaviri invasion happened about 2700 years into the First Era, so quite a long time after Alduin got banished from the timeline during the Dragon Wars.

Dragonbane is a leveled weapon that does the same base amount of damage as a Daedric Sword and, if you wait until level 46 to enter Sky Haven Temple, it's enchantment allows you to inflict a whopping forty points of Dragon damage and the locked-in ten points of Shock Damage that every version of the blade has on those scaly bastards, making it the weapon of choice to make all Dragons respect your authoritah!
