What is the scale of Skyrim?

Has anyone ever did the math to determine the scale of the province in comparison to real life? I'd like to set the timescale to a believable value in proportion to the size scale, so that traveling from one Hold to another takes a believable amount of time. I usually set the timescale to 10 since the default 20 is too fast for my taste, but I'm not satisfied with it due to how long it takes to clear a dungeon in in-game time. Thoughts?

Since there are no scheduled quests in this game, thankfully, I don't pay attention to the time. In the old days, settlements were about 10 to 15 miles apart as that is what a person could be expected to travel on foot laden down with goods. Horses came along and that went to 30 miles in spacing, and with trains, it went to 60 miles (for water refills).

So, how long would it take you to walk 10 to 15 miles, the distance I would expect there to be between major cities in Skyrim? Or, how long would it take you to run? Figure a 6 minute mile for running, and a 15 to 20 minute mile for walking.

I tried to walk from Dragon Bridge all the way up to Solitude, can't remember exactly how much time it took me but I came up with a pretty much believable timescale of 6. This is completely empirical, I didn't do any math. I'll try to make my way through a few dungeons and see how it goes.
