i don't think its a glitch is it? i always thought they put it in because they thought it was funny. Anyway it only happens if the hit kills you right?

This is not a glitch. It is a feature. The Giant's Power Attack is triggers a unique Destruction spell. The spell is called "crGiantClubSlam." Among its other effects is a massive stagger effect. It is intentional.
