Bethesda why have you condemned ps3 players?

Post » Sat Oct 27, 2012 2:33 am

I just don't understand why Bethesda decided to [censored] us ps3 owners...I mean I purchased Skyrim on the day it was released and I can barely play the game because most of the time the quest triggers don't even activate. EX. I can't even move into my home in Windhelm because the "Blood on the Ice" quest doesn't progress even though I opened Calixto's trunk and found the butcher journal. I just want an answer as to why Bethesda had to sell out to Microsoft and not take the appropriate steps to make sure the game could run on the ps3. I regret purchasing Dishonored just because of the fact that Bethesda could give a [censored] about their ps3 consumers.

I sympathize, but try not to take it too personally. It svcks when things are broken, but I think Bethesda is just as frustrated as you are.

By making early arrangements with Microsoft I believe they did.

Making those exclusivity deals is standard practice in the game industry.. and has been so since arcades and the atari. The better performance isn't due to preferred attention on the xbox per se, as it is their easier familiarity with it. The only deal with microsoft was simply 1 month early release of DLC. It had nothing to do with neglecting other hardware on purpose. It doesn't work like that.

If they were [censored] the PS3 crowd over, they wouldn't bother trying to rectify the issues with the PS3 version.

Wrong, Todd Howard knew the PS3 version was funked up.

I will try and find the video. Also, I think you should drop by the PS3 issue sub forum.

I'd wager nowhere. I'd imagine Bethesda would be potentially facing class action if that were the case.

Thanks. Why should I visit there? I have a PS3, but don't have Skyrim on it. I do feel bad for the gamers there though. I've experienced that with different games. While I think the OP is looking at it too maliciously, I know it's frustrating as hell.

Here is just one example:

"The way our dynamic stuff and our scripting works, it's obvious it gets in situations where it taxes the PS3..." -Todd Howard

""The team knew the PlayStation 3 version could run into a "bad memory situation" and they coded solutions that they felt would work – and in their tests the solutions did work. Post release a "small percentage" of users were still experiencing issues where it couldn't keep up, and the team is working hard on solving it." -Todd Howard

(it is obvious that it is no "small percentage")

They've always done this. Fallout and Oblivion got dlc early. Get over it.

What?

Todd Howard knew that the PS3 would not be able to run a port from the XBOX360 properly.

they definatly did, or else they wouldnt have lied to us about the ps3 performance to get us to purchase the game on release day.

Erm...was this thread moved here from somewhere else?

Condemned us as PS3 players? Don't think so. Never really gave a [censored] in the first place? Yeah, probably. As previously stated, I'm disappointed in their apparent inability to solve the issues we PS3 people are experiencing, and even more disappointed in the lack of communication and/or status updates from Bethesda on their "effort" to resolve the DLC issues. If they cared, they would be giving updates more frequently than, I don't know, never.

I think they knew it would have issues from the start, and purposely took measures to obscure that fact so sales wouldn't be impacted. Now that they are out of the spotlight, they have dropped even the appearance of attempting to fix the issues. "HEY, HAVE YOU GUYS SEEN OUR NEW GAME, DISHONORED? YOU SHOULD BUY THAT."
