I'm getting crashes after about 2 days in-game. I use Alternate Start for the shipwreck, swim ashore to Dawnstar, do a few basic things, no quests yet...

Any ideas?

Start over with a new game and disable all mods before doing so, refresh the AII file to be sure.

Make sure all the game's default scripts and all other files are in place (use steam to check this).

EDIT: Above post is helpful. Verifying integrity of the game cache is always a good place to start.

Have you cleaned all your other mods as well? There are several in the list that I recall also have duplicate entries/deletions. Also, I remember at some point I opened JaySus swords in the CK and saved it to create a proper header, since it was made using unofficial modding tools.

It is also helpful to post your Papyrus log 0 right after a crash. In your posted version above, there are no entries within minutes of the assumed CTD event. This could either indicate that the crashes could be hardware related, ie memory full, overheating video card, etc., or that the log you posted is an older version not related to the crash you recently experienced,

Yeah, that's how I got here... I thought Dawnguard was the culprit, so I blew up my old install, did I clean install from Steam with no mods at all, cleaned Update.esm, removed the dawnguard files before I even launched the game. Played a character clean through the first BleakFalls quest with no crashes, then started adding texture mods with no problems.

One-by-one added gameplay mods to the current load order, testing each one, everything seemed stable.... but now 3-4 days into a new character, it's all happening again.

I guess Dawnguard wasn't the culprit.

It seems to have a good deal of errors to do with scripts and properties, the properties for all scripts are actually saved in the save file itself and they never change even if you change the property (only if you use that same save file). Only by using a save file that did not have that mod or any of its scripts loaded can you be sure that its up to date with the latest changes made to that mod.

This may not be the issue but just be sure that all scripts (mods AND game default) are up to date and have not been changed. As always use a clean save file.

Something else to consider is the order you install. I don't know if you use Wrye Bash but it is extremely helpful in determining where any conflicts might reside, for example multiple mods altering the same files.

I am also unsure if any of those mods require SKSE or not, but if so it is also important to start with a verified clean game cache, then install all mods (that alter scripts), then install SKSE last to make sure its alterations are made. Also, make sure everything is up to date. If you have the latest beta 1.8 patch for Skyrim make sure you are using the latest SKSE for that version.

CTD's are really a pain to diagnose. I am dealing with one right now myself and it is so random it defies certainty. The only other thing I can think to try is loading an older save, then loading your newest save in-game from there if you find one that does load, and make a new save once you get your latest save loaded. Don't ask me why, but I have experienced issues where loading a save that caused a CTD would load without crashing if you loaded another older save first.

I ended up starting a completely new character because some old mods projects I was working on had their scripts inadvertently saved in my old character and were generating errors in the logs since their files were no longer present. It seems to be the saga of modding, to constantly start over. not that I mind, it is actually refreshing to take a new approach sometimes. For example I never did the Thieves Guild before and have actually been having a lot of fun with it. =)

Amen to that, I know Riverwood better than the layout of my own home because I've had to start over countless times with the same non-modded save file just to test my most recently created mods.
