First person combat: Skyrim vs. Dishonored

Anyone else feel the swordplay in Dishonored was a lot better than Skyrim?

The fatalities and the limb severing slices seemed much smoother and more fluid to me. I also like the edition of parrying and button-tapping to simulate blade jostling with the opponent.

Haven't picked up Dishonored yet, but I'm sure feedback was taken from Skyrims combat system.
It's just not fair to compare the two, with one being released almost a year later.

2 different companies, two different games, 2 different concepts. its not something to be compared.

doesn't mean a game on a grand scale as the TES series couldn't have the combat of Dishonored or games similar.

Why compare these? Isnt the main focus of Dishonored combat? Not a fair comparison to make. And I thought this was just published by Bethesda, not actually developed by them?

For me a game that has some really great melee mechanics is Dead Island. That was what hooked me on that game. Excellent locational targeting, damage wounds during a fight, and fantastic dismemberment. It even had the ability to break bones in the extremities. It was also brutal and very physical with enemies interrupting attacks, knocking the player back or even down on the ground. I've never really had as much fun playing a melee character as I did in that game. They also included kicks, punches, head stomps, ect that added another element to the fighting.
