Fable series are ruined.

Fable was always one of my favorite role playing games.
With each new Fable game, coming from the original to 2 and 3, there was always something that was missing or some potential that they didn't reach.
But in the end, Fable was a beautiful world and there was a lot of potential to grow as we see The Elder Scrolls games do.

So how did they ruin Fable series? In my opinion:
  • They made Fable: The Journey (Xbox 360, as an exclusive Kinect title).
  • They took down their official forums for Fable series.
So yes, I'm sad as their world and concept was really nice and had a lot of potential for a role playing game.

By taking down their official Fable series forum, would be like Bethesda taking down their forum for The Elder Scrolls and then ask us to visit Xbox.com instead if we would want to discuss any of their games.

Sad..

I'm a huge fan of the Fable series myself, and while I agree that the second and third had something missing, I thoroughly enjoyed them nonetheless. I actually didn't know their forum was down. Not a huge dent for me, since I never even visited it, but horrible for members, I'm guessing. Don't mind Journey being a Kinect game though. I just think of it as any other spin off.

I think being owned by Microsoft has nothing good coming with it.
All Xbox 360 exclusive titles with little to no-support for PC platform, yey.
And closing down their forum forever means either,
1) All future Fable games will all be just Xbox 360 exclusive.
2) When Fable: The Journey failed so horriable, their studio would be closed down.

But this is how they justify taking down the forum:
"Change, however is the only constant in life and we feel that the Internet in 2012 is a very different place from when we started our forums in 1998. All the time we have to spend on our forums, is time our (small) online team are unable to bring you media, screenshots and other exciting exclusives. Therefore, we have implemented a brand new comment system on each page that allows you to continue your discussions, reply to each other, upload images and much more while at the same time making it easier for us to moderate."

I actually enjoyed III, my only real gripes were the unsuccessful attempt at a menu replacement (not sure how harshly to criticise them for trying something different... but it was dreadful!) and that there was a certain amount of grinding required to get the best result in the finances stage of the MQ. The rest of the game was good, and whilst perhaps not quite as atmospheric as the first, something that's highly subjective anyway, I enjoyed the story and exploration elements a lot. I've never played the second since I don't own a console.

The removal of the official forums seemed a rather strange decision though, and not a terribly helpful one. Can't see the logic in that.
