What's your favourite armour set to use? What's the best looking type in your opinion? What's an underrated set? What's your least favourite?

My favourite is probably Ancient Falmer or Glass overall, but I think Steel plate is actually awesome and pretty underrated. I hate Dragonbone armour aside from the helm (which could still use work).

My favorite armor on MALE characters - #1. Dragonscale; #2 Daedric, #3 Nightingale

My favorite armor on FEMALE characters - #1. Nightingale, #2 Steel Plate, #3 Glass Armor

Best Looking - Dragonscale on male; Nightingale on female. Dragonscale helmet is kinda goofy looking though for a dude. Glass looks pretty good on female characters - I had Anneke Craig Jumper follow me on a quest and I equipped her with a full set of Glass. She looked AMAZING.

Underrated - Steel Plate

Least favorite - Leather

EDIT: I would NEVER wear glass myself, but since its sixy, I would have my female followers wear it. Sometimes I opt them to have Forsworn.

My personal favorite is Hide. What my characters actually wear is another matter. Each of them have different preferences in armor and each of them wear different armors, or no armor at all.

I often find myself wearing Fur, Hide, Studded, Scaled armors because I look more like a Nord. Or at lease like Conan... back when the Arnold was Conan... not the new guy. You can say what you want about Arnold, he looked the part on those movies.

my favorite armor to use aside from plain clothes (there's nothing like killing bandits in chefs hat!) is ebony. An underrated set is hide or scaled and my least fav is steel.

Favorites for me are Linwe's and Thieves guild/master. Armors I enjoy are Studded and Scaled and Ancient Nord from the waist up on those three. Iron armor looks fantastic, minus the helm. Steel looks good w/o pauldrons and with the steel chain mail helm, hate the horned look.

Leather and Shrouded armor are absolutely hideous in game. Leather due to skirt and shoulders, Shrouded is just a terrible design. Fetish outfit as opposed to an assassin's garb.

The black and red vamp armors are awesome and so is the regular dawnguard light armor. Didn't care for the sleeveless red too much.

Non-unique:
Heavy - Steel for the look, though the helmet is wrong (too narrow and small.) I would prefer the steel horned helmet over the actual steel plate helmet. Like Ebony as well, though it tends to make my characters look fat ;-). HATE Daedric with a passion - it's something Liberace would wear for Halloween if he was in a bad mood. Too flamboyant and baroque for my tastes. Not impressed with Dragonbone (too grey and depressing.) I actually like the Ancient Nord. Granted, it's not that effective, but it's somewhat archaic look suits the game and the characters I run.
Light - Leather, easily. Plenty of protection (with smithing and enchantment enhancements), decent look, and I prefer light armors anyway. HATE Glass - looks like I'm wearing my grandmother's chandelier. Elven a close second in absolute hatred - garish and birdlike. Dragonscale is OK - still too grey (like dragonbone), but a superior aesthetic. And, despite it's relative ineffectiveness, I very much like the look of the Stormcloak Officer armor. It's neat!

Unique:
Heavy - nothing.
Light - Nightingale actually turns me off a bit. The mask is somewhat grotesque. I'd have to go with Ancient DB, despite the slightly carnival - like color pattern. Would have been better if it was jet black, or a very dark Navy (now THAT would be something.)

Mind you, I'm only talking about how the armors LOOK, not their effectiveness. If choosing for both, it's DragonScale that I prefer, though again the Ancient DB comes in a close second, followed by Stormcloak Officer, and finally Ancient Nord (the only Heavy armor that I truly like.)
