a little more vertical gameplay

Skyrim is fantastic and all but i think the world is very x,y and i think it needs a little more z (vertical / up down gameplay)

we see a little bit of this this in Markarth but the temple obscures any good views or vantage points. If you look at Bravil in oblivion that was pretty good, but i think more could be done with the high points (more buildings and briges over the town) another point would be to make it fairly easy to transition between levels and not just for show.

As someone who plays a sneaky character its fun to creep around, however skyrim lacks shadey alley's and other locations to creep around in. if you want to be sneaky and follow someone. your literally forced to follow them down every road and through every door they use, there are no clever sneaky ways to follow people.

we need more then one path through an area, as well as a little more vertical gameplay. i think if these things came together it would be a dramatic change to an otherwise normal location.

Fast example: Solitude.

in this pic if a bridge had been created connecting from the right where the flag of solitude is to the second floor of the shops in the left of the pic, and those shops had a second floor with a balcony running along them. . .it would have been a much more interesting area to walk around.

i hope i got my thought accross. let me know what you think

I fully agree. I honestly was expecting climbing to be a skill in this province. I expected more high spots placed in such a manner as to use ropes and ladders to reach them, to put the vertical beauty of this land at work. In game, I realized that yes, you have beautiful tall mountains, but your climb is usually just a long easy trip around barriers than a proper climb or an abyssal descent. This is definitely one area where Skyrim didn't use its full potential. Combined with the lack of jumping enhancement via Acrobatics, it gives me a feeling that my character is less agile and athletic than in the previous games. And the terrain collision boxes seem more restricting than Oblivion too, it happens more often than not to be stuck (or unable to jump) in pretty small rocks.

I also felt that Cyrodiil offered more alternative ways to buildings for sneak characters, they were like built with breaking in in mind.

Creating a better way to get around via house roofs would be amazing and would allow stealth characters a much more viable option of getting around.

Mountaintops hold some of the most interesting dragonwalls, crypts, dwemer ruins and little secrets in the game. I'd say that the devs put a lot of thought into offering several meaningful reasons to climb through the mountain ranges and explore in Skyrim.

I agree; leaping from roof to roof feels a much more liberating way to escape from jail than pushing through the streets.

I see how it would be fun, but I guess Nords aren't with all that tall building city stuff (except for the grand castles and stuff)

couldn't agree any more, i felt that stealth was as exhilarating as the previous TES spec morrowind, hope the next installment will be someplace much more interesting in architecture, landscape etc, really liked markarth was hopeing a few more places like that will just have to see how the DLC will turn out

Look at the map at the mountains, explore those areas. Bottom right there is a place called Lost Overlook, sounds that have good over-views. I have been in high places with good views. There is also a place called ? Leap. I didn't take screenshots though.

Yes the mountains can be climbed by pointing upwards continually, sliding left and right and continually hitting jump. You will usually see bits that will look like it is a not quite as steep, or maybe will give a grip. Apart from the real paths up there.

Yes there are many interestin places up there and quite good views in places.
