Skyrim broken after update to 1.8: main menu no longer shows

Post » Fri Nov 02, 2012 7:26 am

After I got the 1.8 update from Steam I no longer get to the main menu. The Skyrim logo just sits there like normal but the menu doesn't show. Can't even open the console. Only option is to forcefully exit Skyrim using the task manager.

The following shows up in the Papyrus log:

[11/01/2012 - 08:57:14PM] Papyrus log opened (PC)[11/01/2012 - 08:57:14PM] error: Native function SetDontMove in empty state could find no matching function on linked type Actor. Function will not be bound.[11/01/2012 - 08:57:14PM] Update budget: 1.200000ms (Extra tasklet budget: 1.200000ms, Load screen budget: 500.000000ms)[11/01/2012 - 08:57:14PM] Memory page: 128 (min) 512 (max) 76800 (max total)

What's up with this!?

1) Uninstall any and all mods, third-party add-ons, script extenders, etc
2) Verify the files
3) Refresh the INI files

If it works, then undo 1. If it stops working again, go here: http://www.gamesas.com/forum/183-skyrim-mods/
If it doesn't work after those steps, you need to provide more information.

Problem solved by validating cache in Steam.

Thanks.
