Backing up your hard drive as a modder

Dear modders and users,
Anyone else having a bad time? I wanted to make a backup of my PC, and discovered that it took about 10 hours just to back up my skyrim data folder. Maybe someone knows a faster way to do this. What's your record of time waited to copy all the files?

10 hours sounds like an incredible long time, are you using some cloud backup? That will take time and is not really needed here, you only want an backup of the files in cause some mod breaks them.
Just copy the files under skyrim\data\ to another folder. You actualy don't need the default bsa files either as you will not be modifying them and can download from steam again.

This.

For a system backup there's not enough information provided (could be tons of reasons), however the title suggests specific intent and it's not a system backup. You just want to prevent bad mods from trashing your install base.

What did you use for backing up -- the only method I can think of that would take 10 hours is using a very slow internet connection ( or backup server on the net with a very slow incoming connection) -- Install a secondary HDD in your system or use a portable HDD or even a USB thumbdrive and that same backup would only takes minutes instead of hours !!
