Guild Wars - Not what you think...

Hey all,

During some playful RP banter on the Tamriel Foundry between myself and the leader of the Hakin, I came up with what I consider to be a rather brilliant and simple feature that could add to the dynamic nature of the world.

Seeing as though the nature of the three alliances are tenuous at best, I think it would be interesting to allow guilds to mass-duel each other.

So, my guild The Morag Tong could declare a "feud" or a "duel" on the guild The Hakin who are also part of the Ebonheart Pact. This would likely cost us some money and would basically allow the two guilds to PvP each other wherever they like. The guild leader of the Hakin would have to consent of course, so it would be more like a sporting duel than a war per se.

Now, like a duel, everyone gets one life. Once defeated by a member of the other guild that person would be "out" of the fight and could go about their business in peace.

Also, considering people can be in multiple guilds, it would either require a system where you declare a primary guild OR barring the "primary guild" feature it could ask multi-guilders whether or not they want to participate or not in the feud.

Guilds could have this happen in a pre-determined spot, gathering their guild together in one area for some sporting combat or it could happen province-wide.

In order to keep it from interfering with the three-way PvP, enemy guild-members would have orange names instead of just red names (possibly the feud would not be active in Cyrodiil.

Also offline players would not be included and players who go offline during the duel are counted as "out." Also there would likely have to be a time-limit on the feud (24 hours or something settable by the guild leaders) so that people couldn't just run forever.

Any thoughts on this? This is of course assuming that dueling is in in the first place, which I really hope it is! RP will be a lot harder without the ability to duel, that's for sure.

Absolutely in favor of something along these lines.

Anything that can help with the illusion of the Ebonheart Pact, in particular, being extremely shaky.
Especially for those who want to RP.

So you'd want something like the Guild vs Guild system, that Guild Wars 1 has. Very interesting. It would make sense if they did add it. Because in Oblivion the Fighters Guild, pretty much had a war against Black Company. So I mean lore wise it has happened. It would have to be instanced. I wouldn't mind having it in-game. I enjoyed Guild Wars' take on that. However I'm sure ZOS could expand on it way further.

Good Idea!

I would very much like to see this implemented. I actually had a http://www.tesof.com/topic-trust-system-dynamic-same-faction-pvp, but yours is much more streamlined and, given the megaserver revelations, much more likely as well.
