If it goes with the game world then I'm fine with it.

I played a little PC with my cousins system and I always hated the mods that added things like super giant swords or lightsaber or ponys (the cartoon kind) but other ones like smithing overhauls were nice, so basically my opinion is: If it blends and feels natural while being amazing then I don't see a problem but if you add aliens to skyrim then :stare: :gun:

That's basically just opinion... I don't use mods because I think most of them 'ruin' the game, in that I prefer the base game a lot more and it feels weird to play with a certain mod active.

But overall, I'd say no not at all. There's a huge amount of mods that fit very well into the game. (Just not for me cause I'm weird :P)

In many cases I think it adds to the game, otherwise why use them?

If a mod adds an area that causes problems for you or conflicts with another mod you need to decide which one you really want to use. other than that I think it's a personal preference whether or not you want these mods in your game.

It's a mod. You decide if it's something that interests you and if it does, download it. If it doesn't, don't. That's the beauty of a mod.

If you want to look at it in artistic terms then look at the vanilla game as the canvas in which the artist has painted and the mods as the frame, lighting and venue that add to the awe of the masterpiece.

If the creators of TES provide modders with the tools to mess with their creation, that's proof enough that they do not feel their artistic integrity would be compromised by mods. My preference is to attempt to play the game within the bounds of how the original creators intended it to be played. If I don't like the original game adding mods won't make me like it any better.

That is entirely subjective; it depends on what you mean by "ruin." Doing actual damage to the game series? No. Mods don't enter into the cannon so any retcons, inconsistencies, etc. they introduce cannot actually harm the TES series. As for ruining the game, that depends on taste. CAN this happen? Certainly, when a mod doesn't fit with what you were trying to accomplish with your mod setup and thus disrupts the consistency you are shooting for. However, whether the game is ruined or not depends on what you, as the mod user, are going for. For me skimpy mods, anime hairs, and the like ruin the game. But someone who is aiming for that would not have the game "ruined." For the most part, mods are for customization and addition, not actually building up and expansion of the foundational game.
