F2P & Subscription (Pros & Cons)

Post » Fri Nov 09, 2012 12:03 pm

Let me start with Free 2 Play first.

Pros:
  • You buy the game and there is no monthly cost.
Cons:
  • In-game store with vanity items and boosts (maybe) but 99% of the time there is.
  • Some people with more money may have more access\get things faster\have more vanity items than you can get.

Then there is Subscription.

Pros:
  • You pay monthly and know that you will have access to everything that is available in the game and if you don't play, just freeze your account.
  • No in-game store.
Cons:
  • ?Monthly cost (split opinion about this/personal preference)

That is what came to my mind, what is your pros\cons? And what is your opinion about them?

It wont stop them from playing, but it will reduce their number significaly, aka not every kid as a credit card / money.

I have to say that I believe.. if there is no subscription for the game, we cannot expect great customer service for years to come as it cost money to hire and keep people working with giving a good service.

I think only one thing that stops most people from playing a subscription based game and that is a bad game.
If the game is good, it's not that hard to pay a monthly cost.

I'm poor and pay subscriptions but that's just me.
Honestly, for a grown up person - the subscription free is very little money and at least you don't have to fuss about what to pay for, as you will have everything, everyone has, fair game.

+ I rather they put vanity items into the game as rewards for playing the game and not paying some in-game visa bank vanity shop whatever. He

Most parents would rather shell out 60 bucks for CoD one time than pay a monthly fee for their kids to play an mmo game. When they're old enough to get a job and pay mmo fees themselves they are usually more mature by this time obviously.
