CTDs every few minutes since 1.8 patch

Post » Fri Nov 09, 2012 12:18 pm

This is ridiculous, the 1.8 patch completely screwed up my game. Whether it's drinking a potion, looting a chest, picking up a flower or simply wandering around, it crashes. I've completely reinstalled the game from scratch, started with fresh INIs and started a new character with no avail. I'm not running any mods other than the unofficial patches and iHUD, hence I run the game with SKSE as well. Is anyone else experiencing this since 1.8? My game was rock solid with 1.7.

With Patches and Mods, it is always the mods that are causing the problems. I will move this to the mods section so you can determine which of your mods needs to be updated.

You can start this process by uninstalling half of them, see if the problem still exists. If it does, then disable the other half. From there, you can use a process of elimination to figure out which one is causing the issue.

Hard to think those few mods are causing problems, anyway each mod is up to date. Every ESMs/ESPs are identified as cleaned by TESVEdit.

It is? Well that's new to me. It's the latest 2.0.2 version dated November 4th. I'm going to run the game without it and see how it goes. Funny thing is, it's the one mod I couldn't live without and I thought it was pretty stable, so I didn't even try to run the game without it.

Gopher said that the issue should be fixed with the next SKSE thats coming up. I've had issues with it since I upgraded to it.

As you suspected iHUD seems to be the culprit, 30 minutes straight running around like crazy and doing stuff with no CTDs whatsoever. And to think I've reinstalled the whole thing because of this..

Oddly enough, I had no issues at all with the same version on SK 1.7, which I've updated to 1.8 on monday. Never too late to learn to read the forums before tampering with the game and trying to solve the problems on your own I guess.. thanks for your input, much appreciated.

oh and thanks to CCNA as well for having moved this

Glad I could help. I must admit though iHud being the culpret is a bit unexpected. I only caught it because I updated it and then started having the issues. So that narrowed it down for me. Just remember no matter how safe the mod seems never rule it out of being the issue.
