Why not just let Steam do its job?

In my experience, changes break things. My game is running really well right now, and I'd rather it stay that way.

I'm running a backup right now before I do this update - we'll see.

Had this a few times before. It's okay, as far as I am concerned.

Steam is gradually converting all the games on its servers to a new, more efficient format. Just let it run and it should be okay--although you may have to replace ini tweaks, re-check any mods you're running in the launcher, and any adjustments programs like SKSE made to TESV.exe. After Morrowind converted to the new system I had to reapply the Morrowind Code Path, for instance.

Other than that you should be okay, though. I've only had one or two hiccups with the conversion thing.

Oh, that's all? (sarcasm.)

Thanks for the response, I'll backup everything and let it do it's thing. "New, more efficient format," is about the least useful description of anything I've ever read.

"Why is it better?"

"''Cause it's better."

"Oh."

Alright - I'm on it.

I don't know off the top of my head what the exact details behind the content conversion are or the details of how/why it's more efficient. I do know it increases download speeds, which has been a concern on Steam for a while now. I was just going off the top of my head when I replied though.

No need to be rude. I was only offering advice on what you might encounter with the conversion...I know I would've appreciated a heads-up on what would happen when Morrowind converted over. But if you'd rather just be sarcastic I can refrain in the future.

Sorry, that was meant to be playful, not rude. I'm bad at internet. (grin)

I'm assuming if you cancel, you can still play?

I'm not keen on updates.

I think there was only an "OK" selection, no cancel....
