Chronic CTD's - Mod Related

Post » Sun Nov 11, 2012 10:00 am

Alright, for the past few weeks I've been trying to diagnose my CTD/freeze up problem by myself, but it has been to no avail. The problem is when I'm in an exterior cell the game will freeze or CTD regularly, as in every two or three minutes. I haven't noticed any connection between the CTD's and freezes other than that they always occur in an exterior cell and completely at random.

First thing I did was do a complete re-install and check the game itself. Everything worked fine as vanilla. Then I went back and re-installed all of my mods out of my mod folder (I'll post my load order in a sec). I started the game back up and it started crashing again. So I did another re-install of the vanilla game and this time I went back and downloaded all of the latest versions of the mods I use, installed them, and started from a clean save. Still crashed regularly in exterior cells. At this time I had Sounds of Skyrim downloaded but not activated (Supposedly it has been causing problems), so I went back did a clean install of Skyrim once again and downloaded all of my mods, this time pruning out the ones I didn't deem 100% necessary, including SoS. This time I also changed my ENB from True Vision (using v0113) to The Wilds (V0119) thinking that it might be an ENB problem. I also started from a clean brand new save on this install. It still crashed. For each new install I also used BOSS for load order sorting and TES5edit for cleaning the mods.

At this point I don't know what else I can do to figure out which particular mod is causing the CTD's. I admit, my knowledge of modding lies mostly with Morrowind and I haven't taken the time to get accustomed to Skyrim's way of doing things, so I don't really know which mods could possibly be causing the CTD's.

Can anyone offer me some advice on how to figure out which mod is causing this? Is there any crash log I can check to see what the problem is?

Here's my load order (Taken from BOSS). Let me know if there's any more info you guys might need. EDIT: http://i.imgur.com/72d0w.pnga picture of all the mods I have installed from my folder since some don't use .esp's. The hidden files (the lightly shaded ones) were installed manually, the unhidden were installed with NMM. The text window shows my mods installed through Steam Workshop.

Install mods individually, not all at once, and run the game after each addition. Once you come upon the mod that is causing the crashing, uninstall it.

That's what I've been in the process of doing today.

I already have my mods categorized by what they do or alter. So far I've figured out that it's not ENB related.

I've been running test runs from the exit of the starting dungeon to Riverwood. In one spot along the way I kept getting a CTD with all my mods installed. So I did a vanilla run, no crash, an ENB run, no crash, the I loaded Lush Trees, Vurts Flora Overhaul, and the patch, and got 1 CTD, but not in the usual place.

So now I'm guessing there's more than one mod causing my problems.
