Something i have wondered about this for a while but have neve really asked anyone.

Most Inn's and buildings have large fires burning (some the size of large bonfires).

I know fireplaces have a way for smoke to escape (the flu?). Are those window-like looking things near the roof actually open for smoke to escape?

I know it is just a game but i am RP'ing pretty hard here.
