Close Quarters Combat as an Assassin?

Post » Mon Nov 12, 2012 10:29 pm

Hey All,

I'm a lv39 assassin and focus mainly on stealth and bows. Obviously now and then I have to fight close quarter combat and that's where I'm struggling. Should I use magic, duel wield or shields etc?

What's your CQC set up for your assassin?

Thanks

what when faced up by multiple foes you use just a dagger? I'm talking about on the odd occasion that you have to break stealth and fight head on.. are you?

Against heavy armoured two handed foes I don't think I'd to well?!

I did but then most of the time my opponents are half dead, rest of the time I don't break stealth

well mine are most of the time but now and then in cramped dungeons etc you can end with a couple of heavies in your face. I may start looking at blocking with a shield and see how that fares or just try not be seen :)

Have you been able to level up Light armor? If you sneak-kill too much your armor skill will lack behind and thus 2-handers will kill you instantly. I can tank for a while with my assasin when the need be. I make sure to get hit by controllable enemies also so I can skill up light armor.

Yeah good point armour lv is about 60 now and I don't die instantly. Also got tweaked nightingale armour. Just if I get ganged up on don't seem to take them down quick enough. What weapons you using. Are you levelling 1-handed. Have you ever bothered with blocking?

I think blocking also interests me as it will add a new gameplay mechanic and mix things up a bit!

I have a lv33 Vampire lord, Dark Brotherhood, Assassin leader, where his defense and offense comes solely from his 100 sneak(every perk included). I dual wield two daggers, use a bow, and wear light armor. My light armor is still in the early 30s while my weapons are mostly filled in with perks. Im working on my alchemy for poison reasons. All these combined and i can pretty much take out anything that stands before me!

Yeah I use a Deadric sword in mainhand and Mehrunes Razor in the off-hand. I did som blocking in the early levels but now I am all about sneak and dual wielding. I don't do smithing or enchanting on this char, but a alchemy, but my enemies usually die by my sneak attacks when succesfull. I have a bug that makes ME go in slowmo but NOT the enemy when sneak-attacking which is pretty gamebreaking.

I have a stock nightingale armor and pretty high light-armor skill and one-handed skill.

I use whatever combat skill my current build incorporates. So, my mage who is an assassin and who has absolutely nothing at all to do with stealth, archery, illusion, or any kind of deception whatsoever, just blasts people with Incinerate. Sometimes Icy Spear too. Works beautifully.

Against an enemy (or group of enemies) that you really think might kill you, just remember to keep moving. Avoid their attacks, and close in to do damage quickly, before moving away again.

You may also want to summon a creature to help - Even if it dies, it can still draw attention away from you and do a bit of damage on it's own.

Oh, and if you're in a heavy brawl, i'd suggest using two medium weapons.

Thanks yeah need to think about using more magic for different situations I have the rose staff thing that summons a big demon lord. I will remember to use that more to help in tight situations.
