Right so ever since I started the game i've had this one annoying little thing which I've never found a way to resolve (im on console, before anyone says pc).

So, at the end of each questline you kill the leaders and get their armour.....but.....as a Stormcloak I would want Ulfric's armour to look awesome on me, whilst still looking like a SC. Whereas as an Imperial, I would want Tullius' armour, because it is freakin godlike.
However, you can only get the oppositions armour...the opposite of what you really want, and I always found that so annoying!! Thats just my opinon I guess.

What you are getting is a war trophy. Tullius' armor is a uniform, unique because of his rank. Unless you actually attain his rank and position, it wouldn't be appropriate for you to wear it. Wearing Ulfric's clothes would be sort of ... ghoulish. That's mannequin material for that room where you keep your stuffed dragon heads and stuff.

I put Tullius' armor on display at my house in Solitude. War booty.

Of course, there IS a mod for that...

Also, Ulfric's clothes are just clothes, despite looking like chainmail with a briastplate. His bracers have an armor rating, but that's it.
They do look good in their female version, though, as can be seen on Idgrod Ravencrone or http://uesp.net/wiki/File:SR-npc-Bryling.jpg.

It was the same way in Shivering Isles. If you became Duchess/Duke of one part of the SI, you wound up getting the armor of the other side.
