Vertical Tearing

Post » Thu Nov 15, 2012 5:52 pm

I am getting vertical tearing best way to describe it is a blue and white line appears when say rounding a corner for a very brief amount of time. I have tried every variation of graphics settings, resolutions, ccc settings, v sync, triple buffering, etc. and am a total loss. I even tried windowed mode and turning off my ASUS OC proflie on my BIOS nothing seems to resolve it. Using 12.10 WHQL and 12.8 WHQL yield the same results.

Anyone else experiencing this?...I normally need to leave v sync on for most games to prevent tearing of some kind but it doesn't seem to help in this case.

Sounds like ATI 6xxx series are having problems with the game.... most complaints I've read from people
with ATI cards come from there. Personally, I have 7970M with 12.8 drivers, Vsync on and haven't experienced
any issues whatsoever, graphical or otherwise.

I see a private beta patch so hopefully a fix is in the works. I read that there is some tearing on the PS3 version so hopefully something that can be fixed down the road...gonna shelf this title until then...I really want to enjoy it.

I dont think its a 6xxx series issue, its something else.
I dont experience this issue at all.

I'm using 12.7's with 12.7 Cap 2's on my x-fired 6970's.
(12.8's and higher cause a bug where my 2nd GPU doesnt throttle all the time)

Maybe try this..
First delete all agme profiles you have made and set everything in CCC to its defaults.
Then uninstall all AMD drivers/software through control panel but dont reboot right away, go into device manager and install standerd vga drivers for the display adapter
Then reboot into safe mode and use driver Sweeper 3.2.0 (sorry i'm not allowed to post links yet) to clean all AMD video drivers.
Reboot and install new drivers.

My specs...
Win7 64bit
2600k @ 4.7ghz
16 GB Gskill DDR3
Asus P8Z68-V Pro motherboard
Two 6970's in x-fire
Intel SSD
WD 2tb 7200rpm HDD
Asus Xonar DG
Corsair HX 850 PSU

Thanks for the advice but Driver Sweeper doesn't play nice with my system for some reason however I use a manual method that does the same thing.
I have tried numerous drivers (all cleanly installed) and CCC is always been default with the exception of forcing v sync on. I downloaded Radeon Pro and am going to try and set a profile for DH. I should be clear the tearing I am seeing appears in the first mission but not before but I highly doubt its something everyone else ran by without noticing. If the RP proflie doesn't solve the issue I guess I am stuck waiting for a patch.

Pretty sure I spent more time trying to get the game to work properly than its actual length.

Going to try 12.10 with CAPS a buddy who has always been an ATI guy recommended them even with a single GPU config.

Edit: and no dice.....:(

Update: Did a reformat and reinstall of win7 and put steam in the default install destination as it was in its own folder on the C: drive for modded skyrim.
Reinstalled Dishonored and the same issues persist but the corruption is much less defined.....the back wall of the boathouse still vanishes when standing near the stairs to the empress(farthest you can be and see it)....hardly gamebreaking but since the game is so art house you might want to fix it. I find also that the corruption completely vanishes with v sync disabled in game and have yet to experience any tearing issues since my reformat.

Nothing left for this thread so please request admin lock and/or delete it. :D

Time to finally experience this game
