Some button prob with PS3 ver

Ok i got the game.

The gameplay is hard yet awesome. Never dissappointed me but the controls had errors on it.

1)When playing hide and seek with Emily, the tutorial stated to press "X" to enter stealth mode. I followed but Corvo ended up jumping instead. After fiddling with the controls, I found out its actually "O" rather than "X"

2) The 2nd time is at the coldridge prison, the tutorial stated "O" to climb on edges. I again followed but didnt work. I fiddled with the controls again and found out its "X" instead....

3) The tutorial stated "R2" to choke enemies, the button is correct but sometimes Corvo refused to do it!! I sneaked behind the enemy, pushed R2 and Corvo does nothing and I got spotted. I tried out on another guard, Corvo did it. I was like "Ok strange...."

Lastly the tutorial stated "Sprint and hold X to slide" , I was having doubts but still followed accordingly in the end i got blown by booby trap since Corvo again ended up jumping instead of sliding. I once again fiddled with the control and found out its "Sprint and Hold O" instead....sheesh

I'm still at the prison cause my chaos result is high due to this weird R2 function. Going to keep replaying until i get low chaos...

As you can see, Bethesda loves the Playstation 3 and does everything in its power to ensure it is a viable console for all your games published by Bethesda. The feature you are experiencing is called "Adaptive Difficulty" where the game believes you are too good and therefore tries to kill you with misinformation and controller input failures. Its a Playstation Exclusive feature that we have slowly been implementing since oblivion.

Bethesda hates the PS3, and that apparently trickles down to the people it publishes as well. Hopefully they patch that sillyness quickly, but its a beth published game on the PS3, I wouldn't hold your breath.

(Not played the game yet - later tonight, but,) Out of interest, did you change the controller settings, and did the tutorial buttons refer to the default ones?

I think u probably owned a Japanese or Asian version of PS3, the confirm/cancel button positions r inverted between asian and western verisons of PS3.(i think that's well-known among gamers)
as an asian this issue happens to me either, it won't matter much after u get used to it, but i do really love this game, i recommended it to my friends. i wish not only them, all the other asian gamers woild also have a pleasant time while handling this great game without being bothered by this little issue. so Arkane, please just make DIshonored more flawless, gamers from anywhere deserve to play and enjoy this game, fix it thx!

This problem only occurs to those having Japan or Asian console and it is not something new either. Fortunately in this case it is not as game breaking unlike Sleeping Dogs and Red Dead Redemption.

Thing is, the inverted button settings has been around since PS2 generation (or was it since PSOne?). Shouldn't developers be made known to this already?

Also, games have to be submitted for Sony testing before release. I would assume this has to pass their basic compliance checklist before passing for a public release.

Not pointing fingers to developers, but if Sony wants to do this unnecessary inverted settings for different regions, they should ensure this isn't a problem upon release. Now R3 games are like subpar versions of the R1 games/consoles.
