Hearthfire breezhome bug

Post » Thu Nov 15, 2012 11:29 am

So the alchemy station in breezehome was missing from the game due to a bug in dawnguard and could not be purchased. They fixed that in Hearthfire but if you placed any Items in the barrel under the staircase just outside of the alchemy room it will be gone when you download Hearthfire since that portion of the home resets. I wanted to let you guys know since I myself placed every unique pice of armor and weapon and other items in that barrel (just for temporary storing untill i could put them all on display once i got hearthfire) on my main save and it is now gone... I have 100+ hours of gametime on that character and now im gonna have to start a new one eventhough that was not the plan... I know this warning probaly won't make a difference to 99,9% of you guys but if it can help anyone who might have placed something of importance in that barrel im glad caus it sure svcks for me... thanks Beth.

Sorry to hear that. It sounds less like a bug though, and more like an intentional change.
As others have said, try reloading that save :)

whish that I could but i made a mistake to save over my previous save and i didn't expect this to happen. I know it is safer to have a lot of saves all the time and I allways have atleast one backup but as i said i made a mistake and saved over my backup (which i thought was an unimportant save from a previous character) not five minuts before finding out about the barrel thing... ahhh hindsight is a [censored]:(

Why even store it in the barrel when there is a 100% safe chest right next to it..

Because all containers in Breezehome are safe and he didn't know this would happen, obviously.

"MagicalZero ko": true:( because "Avinar": it isn't even there to begin with since, as i said, the alchemy room is not avaliable due to a bug in Dawnguard.
the only purpose for this topic is to warn other not to do what i did... not to reflect on my mistake since there is nothing to do about it now... And "Amphrax": i did not care what container i used as it was just meant as a temporary storage device and it was just as safe as the chest next to it... or at least thats what i though.

My alchemy bench had no effect on it when I installed the dawnguard DLC.

As for bethesda THEY REALLY NEED TO BETA TEST THERE DLC so this kind of stuff doesn't happen in the future.

Nothing in Breezehome resets unless you change something by either changing the alchemy room into a bedroom, or furnishing the alchemy room if you missed out on getting it because of Dawnguard. Naturally you are going to lose what you had stored in that room if you change it into something else. Some might not have realised that affected the barrel.

Dawnguard glitches breezehome?
Yes, people couldn't (can't we still?) buy the Alchemy Lab for Breezhome for some reason. One way to fix this, if it's not fixed already, is to uninstall Dawnguard, purchase the thing, and install the DLC again.
