Hey guys, I'm not sure if this has been addressed here or not, but i'm having a problem hiring a steward for my hearthfire house in the pale, I finished my house and realized I didn't have a steward. So I set out to find one and I tried to hire two or three different people (thinking maybe it was an issue with a specific follower) but it's simply not giving me an option to have them be my steward, even when I take them to my house. Any help is appreciated.

TLDR; I can't hire a steward cause it doesn't give me an option upon talking to them.

Just use one of your other housecarls. There is a glitch where the new housecarls, in this case Gregor, will not spawn. VIsit the jarls house and see if you got lucky and he spawned.

You should join my game I have a steward wandering about my house and I've not even hired them. I think this steward took it for granted that I would want to use them so they just made themself at home.

That wouldn't happen to be my Gregor, taking a magic portal to your game maybe? But this DLC is seriously glitched.

My stewart Gregor is at my house but he is stuck in place at the entrence. I have a bard and a kid and they move about just fine, just not my stewart. I guess he likes the cold.

i've had the same problem.in my case the only ppl i personally hve been able to recruit as stewards are the housecarls that the jarls of wichever city gave me the letter to buy land

Sounds a bit unlikely. You only get a housecarl if you are Thane for that hold, it is not a glitch if you are not and never got a housecarl, that is normal for any house you might have before becoming Thane. You will have to go do the usual quests to become Thane.

There are plenty of lists on the forum of people you can and cannot ask to be stewards.

i usually find him at my falkreath home
guess he likes it there better

valdimar wonders too.. he is my housecarl
all three homes i used a different person for my stewart outside the housecarl that i was given by the jarl
i did that so i would have more protection


to the person with a npc that wandering about your property thats probably the housecarl gregor
if you did not make him or any of the three given to you as your steward
they wander all over the place

my steward was killed by the dawnguard....now i cant seem to replace them

Anybody know how I can get the Steward offer to trigger after rejecting the first follower to offer? Because I've had no luck, so far.

Bring the right follower to the house and then ask them if they do not offer. Most followers who can be stewards can be found in the link below.
