Built Homes Freeze Issue

Post » Thu Nov 15, 2012 12:54 pm

Given that this creates critical failures for a lot of players, and given that such software should never be getting through a Microsoft cert process in the first place, is there any suggestion that Bethesda are working on a fix for this?

I've shipped software with bugs before but have never - in 25 years of making games - shipped something that has had a 100% repeatable critical failure in it. If I ever did then I'd be pulling out all the stops to get it fixed ASAP.

So nothing then?

Consumers buy something that simply does not work, and which also impacts on their additional purchases, and it doesn't matter?

Awesome customer service.

Heard the bug is those benches in your house, remove them and try to enter.

They still havens fixed the Massive lag issue in dead crone rock yet, and all they have to do there is remove one monster, something tells me that would reduce lag levels outside everywhere.

Nope - that doesn't work for me. In fact, nothing does. If I try to enter my home the game instantly locks solid.

100% repeatable.

To leave this bugged and make no comment on a potential fix is appalling.

Hey guys, I tried every solution suggested from you! Didn't work. I use the Armory, Storage and Greenhouse.
Tried to remove all workbanks = freeze.
Tried to furniture my house completely = freeze.
I have my wife, my steward, a bard, my 2 children, 3 chicken, 1 cow and 1 horse.

I already had the freezes before all of them lived in my house.

What can I do? Will this get patched in 1.9?

Not one of you was very informative about where the game is freezing, if it is freezing on the loading screen while autosaving, it could just be the autosaving that is the problem, try turning all the autosave options off and see if you can get in the house. You can manually save without problems, but some of us had trouble with the autosaving freezing the game.

I very much doubt there will be any patches for any DLC, if you cannot use the house all you can do is go back to a save game and build the house again, the glitch is likely with the house itself if it was not the autosave problem. Considering all the random events that go on around Lakeview, and all the potential things going on with a greenhouse it is probably an idea not to build the greenhouse at Lakeview unless your game is running without problems and lag.

If you do not have a save to go back to, remove everything of yours from the house (ALL of the houses if you did more than one) and remove the DLC, then start the game and save it to get a save without Hearthfire. Download the DLC and start again, keep the non Hearthfire save and keep a save before you start the first house in case something goes wrong. I am sure a fair few more glitches could be created doing it that way, but if you have no saves to go back to and want that character to be able to play through Hearthfire, that is all you can do. I would test to see if it was the autosaving before throwing all your work away and starting again.

Installing the game if you have the space to spare can also help if the game is not playing the best.

So you got past the loading screen and it is probably the conversation with one of the children that is freezing the game? Or possibly something in the house. Can you go in one of the other doors, avoid the children and not have it freeze so quick?

I would still rebuild the house and not build the greenhouse there.

Yes, i can move in the house like 30 secs and then it freezes. If i start to talk in those 30 secs with a child or someone else it freezes after some time (cus of the 30secs) but if i quickly open a chest or something it doesnt freeze, except when im closing it to move again.

I think im going to remove the greenhouse
