Here is my take on it:
I believe the role of this dlc is to give console gamers more of a connection to the individual home/fortress building side of modding that pc gamers have access to. For people arguing that mods are way better etc. and that pc gamers are too spoilt and console gamers don’t get enough, please take in mind that consoles are limited by their hardware that we should be thankful we are getting the opportunity to build.
You will set yourself up for disappointment if you’re expecting a major story-line addition. Bethesda have just released Dawnguard (before some can moan, yes, I know it’s unfair for PS3 players). They aren’t going to release another major plot until quite a few months for sure, as the DG quest-line is still relatively fresh.
Considering it is only 400mp (around $5/£3/€4), I believe it is a nice small addition to the game, giving the opportunity to be a bit more creative and have further immersion to the role playing element of Skyrim, similar to the Battlehorn Castle/Deepscorn Hollow/Frostcrag Spire dlc for Oblivion.
I also see people patronising the announcement with the typical sort “lol, wut is this, The Sims?”. I’m not sure about others, but I like the new element of construction. To repeat myself, it gives more potential to add immersion towards a role playing element.
Thoughts?
