Is it known wether you can choose the six or even the race of the child (even though I have only seen human looking children in the game)?

All we know is what was shown in the videos. No more, no less. Hearthfire is about a week away so we'll know soon enough.

There are two adoptable kids that we know of.
1. A girl named Lucia (after the Lamplighter of the same name?) - presumably found begging in Whiterun. Looks to be Imperial or Redguard.
2. A boy with a Nordish name I can't remember, prob. a Nord.

Additionally, I expect the Honorhall kids may be adoptable as well. But no way to know for sure.

You can adopt children of either gender. As far as races go, it's (most likely) human only, but there's no further information on which human races will be available.

Assuming all Honorhall kids are adoptable:
* Nords of both genders
* Imperial boy
* Breton boy
* Redguard girl (might be Imperial)

I'm guessing that Gralnach will only be adoptable after his mother is dead, since it would be weird if you adopt him away from his mother.

The little girl named "Lucia" is new as far as I can tell as she is not listed in any of the Skyrim wiki's. So perhaps they did add some beast children, and just didn't show it.

this was taken was taken from the hearthfire official page. And just from it saying adoption system. i think its safe to assume that there will be more than just two children.

The trailer shows the bedroom description for one master bedroom and 2 children's rooms. So it looks like you can adopt 2 children at most, possibly, per home.

well i never play the dark brotherhood quest line
but i can see darkbrotherhood people adopting the kid
that ask you to kill gerold the kind lol
