Hearthfire breaks my Riften House Cellar - anyone else affec

Post » Thu Nov 15, 2012 6:23 pm

Hearthfire messes up the cellar in Honeyside - there are cobwebs on the doorway, the mannequins are almost covered by a hay-bale, and there is a leaning bookcase superimposed over my chair and reading table. WTF?

I know Hearthfire is responsible because I deactivated it and everything went back to normal.

Of course I can still use the cellar... but it just looks really crap now. :yucky:

So I'm curious; has anybody else had the same problem, or is it just me?

The most that's happened too me is it just makes me lag a bit in the house sometimes.

My cellar still looks the same for the two characters who have Honeyside, but they have had it for ages. But I play on the Xbox 360.

That's what I was afraid of, it could be just me.

I've done pretty much all I can with my current level of knowledge; if I knew more about modding I could fix it myself.

I also installed the unofficial patches for all DLCs, although of course these are a work in progress, and Hearthfire only came out on PC a couple of days ago, so it could get fixed.

Fingers crossed.

There are other known conflicts with, for instance, USKP and HF. Maybe you have found one more? Deactivate patches and see what happens.

I have not been in Honeyside's basemant in months. I will have to see if there are any changes. However, with the official game patching and content that is coming out, the unofficial patches can be suspect until they are updated.

Only problem I've had is I no longer have a cooking pot at Proudspire in Solitude.

Well, I've disabled patches and mods, played around with the load order, uninstalled and installed unofficial patches; all to no avail.

Even worse, I've discovered I'm one of the large number of people who can't enter Breezehome without a CTD.

I'll keep trying, but I might just have to disable Hearthfire and forget about it. For now anyway.

Haven't been to Honeyside in a while, but I also lost cooking pot in Proudspire Manor. Also, since installing Hearthfire:

can't harvest salmon meat from live salmon (anywhere, not just the fishery)
mannequins move around in Windstad Manor

bad_paladin: do you have any mods that alter navmesh in Breezhome? I have read that Hearthfire causes Breezhome CTD if you do.

I built an addon to the Whiterun home and I had to remove it because it crashed every time I went into the house.

I got the same thing, in my old game,
all temporary items from when you buy the house unfurnished reapeared,
coexisting with the real furnishing

what an ugly mess ! hay all over the place, a bookshelf ''fallen'' on my table, etc ...

Did you have any mods that altered Honeyside?

In my case I didn't. In that specific game, no mod at all.

I may/may not have been using the unoficial patch
(That's an old game I used to test the waters with hearthfire, my first character, with no mods, because it's ''safer'')

Now I use a new character and I'm still building my first manor, won't get honeyside for a while

My guess is there is a real problem.

I'm not a PC player, but don't unofficial patches count as modifications?

I also had this problem. Sometimes the old cobwebs and crap reappear (this has happened when using no mods and when using mods, seems to be a crapshoot). The weird thing is, when this bug occurs, the dialogue option to change the enchanting lab into a kid's room says something like "Would you like to change your alchemy lab into a kid's room [...]?" It just shows the periods in the parentheses instead of the actual gold amount. Further to this, choosing the option will result in the steward taking your gold, but no updates happening in Honeyside. And the option to change the room will still remain in her dialogue.

Another strange thing. On the odd time I load up the game and the basemant does load properly, the mannequins don't have pedestals under them. When I load it up and there's cobwebs and crap all over the cellar, they do.

bad_paladin: Can you tell me what mods you were running? For a while I thought Smakit's Map Markers or Whiterun Breezehome - Breezehome Basemant from the Steam workshop were conflicting, but I've loaded my save up with no mods at all and the problem persists. Wondering if some mod may have made an errant alteration to my save data.

Would it be the unofficial patch conflicting? The mannequins in the Xbox 360 version now never have pedestals under them. Only Proudspire's and the one in Vindrel Hall have pedestals.

I don't think so. I've had it happen without the unofficial patch running.

I managed to fix this on my game, although it was a pain in the ass. I screwed around with the load order (typically meant putting the unofficial hearthfire patch at the end of my load order, although it was really a crapshoot) until I got the basemant to load normally. Went to Riften castle and talked to the steward, had her switch the room to a kid's room. Went back to Honeyside just to make sure it had worked, then went back and had them switch it back to an enchanter's room. That seems to have stuck, as it loads normally now (although I still don't have any pedestals).

You will not get pedestals, the Xbox 360 game no longer has them, so they have been officially removed probably to try and stop the mannequins straying. Although mine change pose occasionally and move slightly, they have not gone wandering all over the house like they used to.

Problem seems to be solved!

Thanks to everyone for your input. Sorry I haven't replied to anyone yet, I've been a bit preoccupied ever since I bought XCOM and Dishonored on the same day.

I'm running a sh#t-load of mods; specifically for Breezehome:- Breezehome Light Fix - to fix those stripy shadows. Breezehome Ladder Fix - stops you getting stuck at the top of the ladder.
I don't think I have any that directly affect Honeyside.

In response to people's suggestions, I disabled some mods one at a time. The Unofficial Patch had no effect. To my surprise, it was the Ladder Fix mod that did it! I then travelled from Breezehome to Honeyside and checked the cellar; it was fixed too! I don't know how this mod can affect two houses, but apparently it does. Kind of annoying; I hate getting caught at the top of those stairs.

Anyway, if other people have the Breezehome CTD problem, I hope this helps.

Well, I can confirm I have random hay bails etc appearing in my Riften basemant. Thought I was going mad! Thing is, I don't have the Ladder Fix mod installed, so I can't try that :ermm:
