Crash to desktop fix

Post » Thu Nov 15, 2012 4:26 pm

I don't no if this will solve all desktop issues but i think its the issue.

I think whats going on is the game crashs to desktop if your sound hz are too high like if u have 24bits 192000hz or higher u mite want to try setting it to 24bits/16bits 48000hz or less to see if it fixs the issue.

I remeber when skyrim came out on steam i couldnt even play it cuz every time i tryed starting skyrim up it would show bethesda and load to the main menu then crash to desktop every time and to fix it it turned out i had to change sound from 24bits 192000 to 16bits 48000 it did work at 24 bits 48000 but the sound from npcs talking bugged alot in game so i put 16bits.

Also if u have any sound mods that improved sound will cuz the expansion to crash.

I had the mod that made the thunder sound more realistic and it cuzed game crash and i couldnt play but when i turned the thunder sound mod off and played game it worked just fine so probble just turn any sound mods off that change game sounds.

Hope this helps and solved issue tell Bethesda can fix it =)

Go to
1. Control Panel > Hardware & Sound > Sound
2. find your sound device in the playback devices list
3. click properties
4. click the advanced tab
5. select the sound quality from the drop down menu
6. click ok to save & close the window

that should do it.
