That was tough to decipher, but I think I got the gist of it.

Just create a new Save file every 2-3 hours of gameplay (deleting the really old ones, if you choose). If wifey gets snuffed, just reload an old save.

Pff. Just don't get married. Problem solved.

But on a serious note, your spouse very likely just hangs around inside and should be safe from giants.

Here is a good question.. Why is the wife out of the house and why isn't she in the kitchen.. Just kidding.. But I don't believe she will be walking around the property.. And I don't believe Giants can enter the front door.. And why don't you just lock the cellar door so you don't have Butch's mom screaming about Radroaches.. Oh wait rats..

And the kids can't die so you don't need to worry about them.. Hell you can give them the swords and sit on your porch as the giants get killed by immortal deamon children

Hopefully Bethesda have taken this into account OP. I think your family should be fine, they'd have to be absolute morons not to run inside when they see giants running towards them waving clubs, if they don't then it's just natural selection at work.

doubt it, they'll be inside your house. giants will be outside and skeevers possible just stay in the basemant (doubt a steward would have trouble with them anyway). the only thing to worry about is them being kidnapped

By the wicked Witch perhaps?

You won't have to worry about VL's either they won't fit through the door and Vamps can't bite children, so safe again.

Why would your spouse be outside? They never leave the houses in other towns like Breezehome. The only thing I see a Giant doing is vandalizing your outside and teasing the cattle.

Now you've done it, I'm going to have to create a Breton that looks like Darwin and tell my kids to go out and play when I see a Giant coming... just to prove my theory, of course.

I'm afraid the kids in Skyrim blow Darwins theory of evolution clean out of the water. Children who are completely invincible.

Hey, you took your vows! You can't just get a new wife after yours falls in glorious battle. You must spend the rest of your life in mourning until you are rejoined in Sovngard.

They probably thought of that and will let you remarry in Hearthfire, but if it happens then you just weren't a good enough husband.

I don't marry my followers and my spouses don't follow me into combat, just not a great idea. Be more careful with your loved ones, what kind of person leads their husband or wife into a giant's camp anyhow? >.>

That was hard to read, took me a good few minutes. But anyway, I don't think giant's will squeeze through your front door and just kill your wife. They're too big for your house. And I'm sure your steward and even your wife can kill a skeever.
