Necromancer DLC?

Post » Thu Nov 15, 2012 2:13 pm

Im sort of disappointed with Hearthfire news after getting my hopes up of a Necromancy themed dlc that i was hearing rumors of. I know the whole undead thing was just done with Dawnguard, but smaller content adding in some more different necromancy options would be great, along with maybe a hideaway and new spells for those who combat necromancers. Fixing some bugs with thralls and raising cap of those that can be reannimated would be interesting as well

After spending countless hours leveling up conjuration along with some other skills used by vampires, i finally got Dead Thrall and Twin Souls and its now become a fun passtime just finding better thralls.... Not to mention what combinations work best. Even Vampire attacks in cities became alot more interesting... When a thralled master necromancer i have killed 6 npcs with one blast of his ice storm. Even though it killed the female smith in whiterun, it was still one of those great moments as suddenly a gust of magick sent guards, citizens and vampires flying. Touching up on this and expanding upon it could only make for a more deeper game imo... And i hope it doesnt die on the vine as a missed oppurtunity

I don't like Magic Dlc as a whole. Unless it has Something to do with the Thalmor. or More answers to them.

True making a whole DLC on magic would get kinda of boring, but you do have a good point since so many people use magic, but i pefer being a nord and would rather have a DLC like Hearthfire and something like the old DLC's on Oblivion with the wizards tower or the many other ones..Idk just my opinion

Always thought necromancy would be cool.. But then I thought about what I would actually be doing.. Then decided staying in a creepy and damp basemant with skeletons lining the walls while brewing potions isn't my cup of tea.. I would love to make a undead army and march on the Thalmor..

Lichdom would be nice.

Having your own lair filled with undead servants would be nice as well.

An entire add on just for necromancers. No I do not want that at all.

Here is a thought instead if just focusing on one aspect of magic do the entire system everything from destruction to alteration to conjuration along with necromancy.

Give us all of that and give us back spell creation and the old spells dating back to at least Morrowind. Then expand upon the sun magic added with Dawnguard. Another thing that could be done is add back in the shadow magic from Shadowkey.

I think the shouts should be made into their own school as it is a form of magic. The timer based system is just a gimmick.

If Necromancy dlc is created it can also have an opposing 'good' faction so no ones really left out. Added spells can be thrown in for every school, but being able to safely store dead bodies and maybe even use tools on them to make them more powerful would be a cool feature. Also a Thrall House steward would be pretty cool. On the opposite end of the spectrum there could be a good faction looking to terminate necromancy, using weapons blessed by meridia or something. It doesnt have to be a big dlc, something smaller than Dawnguard would still be welcomed, or if all else fails, just a $5 dlc that has added spells and just a hideaway.

Throwing everything magic related into one Dlc wouldnt be the smartest move by developers. It would sound great to fans, but everyone would be burnt out from playing Skyrim alot quicker. By spacing out dlc and adding just enough in each installment is smart marketing and keeps fans interested. When someone proposed the concept behind Dawnguard im sure no one at Bethesda said 'Well lets throw in spells for every magick school, add spell creation, and while we're at it lets revisit all older spells and schools from previous games'. Everything has a theme... That catches the eye and makes each dlc unique.

i wouldnt like to see necromancer dlc... I'd prefer a DLC that provided more for all schools of magic while also adding content for melee and archery. (although archery got the bow from dawnguard and melee was given a bunch of goodies too)

I, from what I've seen on these forums, think that most people will jump it as a zombie dlc....it would not end well...'

I was hoping for something with a bit of magic related but Hearthfire is for rp purposes. As an Rper I'm good with this dlc.

Isn't dawnguard basically a necromancer DLC?...

You get an undead dragon, and undead horse, and three new other undead summonables.

Not to mention the ability to visit the Soul Cairn.

I see that quite a few people are 'yearning' for some sort of 'Thalmor' Invasion dlc, but personally I think fighting And interacting with snobby sounding altmer in glass/elven armor for hours would bore me out of my mind. I dont think we need more poorly done rehashes of Imperial/Stormcloak battles where enemy numbers slowly dwindle away.

As for the other person who wants every school of magic touched upon, read my earlier post. Theres not much sense in throwing everything 'magic' related in one dlc. When i read posts where people demand 50 new features in the next dlc and condemns any idea that broadens one particular skill it makes me thank God theres professionals deciding what is included next.

Adding new magic and Thalmor battles is something for the next game.
