so, now i cant play skyrim at all..

Post » Thu Nov 15, 2012 9:49 pm

hey guys, i posted asking for help on a few topics but no one replied so thought id make one..

basically since i got dawnguard i can no longer play skyrim. had a bug involving quest givers not recognising me as a vampire so i came out of the game and tried to start it up again to see if it might work after a reload, but now i cannot even open the launcher, i just get error code 51 everytime. i have tried reinstalling the game, removing mods and dawnguard, tried the fixes i found online i.e. deleting the pref.ini files etc.

really stuck and help would be much appreciated :)

1. yes last update repair 1 bug add 2 new bugs :P
2. you have bugs becouse:
- you use unoficial mods which bug game
- order of the mods is wrong in your mod list in Skyrim launcher

Sometimes save game save bugs so:
- reinstaling
- making sure to clear no skyrim folders in steam and my documents folder
- starting new game
- waiting for patch :P

If you use localized game it might makes bug too. I recomend instaling eanglish version.

Try to run Wrye Bash and make a Bashed Patch. It's weird and far fetched idea but sometimes it can help.

Error 51 code indicates that there are two "Skyrim.esm" entries in plugins.txt. There should be no "Skyrim.esm" entries in plugins.txt.

Go to [username]/AppData/Local/Skyrim -> open plugins.txt -> remove the "Skyrim.esm" entries at the top of the list -> save the changes to plugins.txt. That should get rid of the error 51 code and allow Skyrim to continue loading.

(AppData is usually a hidden folder, enable viewing of hidden folders first)
