When Serana is a follower the vampire drain spell (right hand) in vampire lord form does basically no damage. It's useless against just about everything.

Mine seem to do damage..

it does 2 damage/sec

It doesnt do "basically no damage"

Ill find against a Dawnguard itll take like 8 or 9 blasts to kill one guy with Serana.
By myself I off him in 2.

What is the base damage of the drain ball spell?

This bug is game breaking at higher levels and on master difficulty, you can't kill anything!

Try playing on Master instead of Novice.



Without Serana, you do decent damage, with Serana you tickle enemies, we were ambushed east of dawnstar by a group of 4-5 bandits and 2 giants and a mammoth decided to join in as well... Decided to transform and when i was hitting the giants/mammoth with the drain spell it did barely any damage to them, if i had kept going i would have been fighting them for well over an hour.......

I've taken to just summoning a gargoyle and using melee attacks in these situations.

I generally look at drain health as a healing ability, not my primary attack.

I use claws, gargoyles and grip for damage.

I have this same problem but I have all the vamp lord perks so I'm not to worries about it anymore
