Hi Res Texture pack causes crashes

Post » Thu Nov 15, 2012 6:13 pm

I've installed the Hi Res Texture Pack, but Skyrim crashes to desktop every time I load a game where I'm outdoors (saves where I am indoors load fine, but the game crashes when I try to go outside). Solutions?

My specs:

Windows 7 (32)

AMD Phenom II X2 560 3.30 GHz

3.25 Gb RAM

GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1Gb

could be a few things , but what catches my eye is you 3.25 Ram ( win 32 systems are restricted by nature to 4gb...showing less in system info).<<you got your game updated ? silly question i know but it could be ...sounds like an issue from an old update ..dont remeber the version. Also try to verify the compability of any mods.
Lots of em havent seen any uptade for months.
I had that issue with leaving Whiterun it was connected to the mesh incompability and as a result to all mesh altering mods that i used i had CTD.
Also you can try to verify your gamefiles...maybe the smell originates from there .

hope i could help
Good luck m8

@up
You're thinking about patch 1.3. But the Hi-Res Pack was released much later, so OP had to update his game to even install the DLC.

Try installing this:
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/8236
It's a compilation of fixes for the Hi-Res Texture Pack. If your game still crashes, maybe turn off antialiasing?

He's on a 32-bit system, so he has even more memory than the game can use. However, I'm not sure if it's enough to handle the Texture Pack. We'll see.

If it still crashes, meddle with your settings - try lowering them, turning things off. Oh, and remember about Pumuck's suggestion to verify integrity of game files - it might not solve the problem, but it certainly won't hurt.

Well, installing the fix sorta helped. I was able to load an outdoors save once, but when I tried to fast-travel to another location, the game crashed again. The save won't load anymore.

I think I'll just stick with the vanilla game. This pack is too much trouble and doesn't look that different, anyway. Thanks to everyone who commented.
