Starting Dawnguard while being a Vampire...

Post » Thu Nov 15, 2012 6:25 pm

Yeh I started Dawnguard as a full vampire and noone has given me an objection to joining a group of vampire hunters and they all treat me like a human...

Not to mention noone is hostile to me anymore and doesn't seem to give a crap that I'm a full vampire either.

What gives...?

One of the things the DLC is change how NPCs react to you being a vampire. Unless you transform into vampire lord form they dont care.

They make you cure yourself after getting two members to join.

Heh, in the beginning the dude even says "Heck, a Vampire could just walk right in here".
You're right, one did.
I just wanted to see how competent you were...you know, you kinda wanna hunt me. But hey, you can't tell by the glowy eyes, you're not that smart. It's cool.

It's a little underwhelming if you're already a vampire.
Which is ironic because players already running vampire characters were probably the most excited about Dawnguard when the details started coming out.

But Harkon actually infers you are just a mortal and the Dawnguard themselves badly need to polish their vampire detecting skills (those guys crack me up tbh, they're alright lol).
It kinda irked me when you begin the lord process with Harkon tbh because it sort of feels like the players history as a vampire is brushed aside in his dialogue... which is anathema to TES games I would have thought.
Loads of long term vamp characters were no doubt ceremoniously marched before Harkon by players who nervously awaited validation of the path they had chosen, only to be utterly deflated by his complete lack of acknowledgment.

But in the big picture it's a minor complaint of wounded pride, vampires get awesome stuff in Dawnguard and I'm very happy with it in general.

Plus I'm starting to suspect I may be able to cause trouble for that pompous egomaniac Harkon even if I am on the vampire side.
