Can I get it for free? (leme explain)

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 12:25 am

So the Doom pack is 35$, BFG is to replace this essentially. 2007 I bought the ID super pack, last summer I bought the QC2011 pack, which had the ID pack and the beth Catalog. so I've bought Doom about half a dozen times now. Why should I buy it again? just for a few Enhancements(mods), and a small cut campaign?

Pretty much.

You don't have to buy it if you don't want it, you know.

The new missions aren't cut content, they made them after the game was done.

The new missions were not cut from the original release of Doom 3 (and RoE). They were made specifically for the re-release, however I assume that they would release the new Missions for the PC version of Doom 3 at a later date.

Although your point is clear, your example svcks, lol. It's not like they're remaking Doom3, they're just adding more.
Doom 4 is still being made, you know, they didn't stop working on it to get the BFG edition rolling.

And anyway, here's why they're re-releasig: Money, and fanbase. The new generation of gamers doesn't know Doom. It's full of retards that say "[censored] Doom4, Rage svcked," as if Rage would decided Doom4's faith, lol.

Doom4 won't sell unless new fans are brought to the Doom franchise, that is why Doom3' being released for the modern consoles.

As Vynzent said, they are not "making" Doom 3 again. They are just updating it, bringing it to modern consoles... and adding some new content.

Why? Well, lets see... Doom 4 is gonna be released on PC, 360 and PS3... the majority of console gamers haven't played Doom 3. Bringing Doom 3 to modern consoles (along with Doom and Doom 2) helps get the console market familiar with the series. Helps bring attention to the IP.
Also, the BFG Edition releases in October, with QuakeCon in August. Seems like a good time to really, really start building up interest for Doom 4.

Don't buy it if you feel this way. I know this is just a way for Id software to get through this year with some external product funding. They have spent too many years without games and income and this is their way of securing some funds till DooM 4 releases and also to get new gamers to know id software. Even though I know this and even though I already own all Id software games. I will still buy this because I'm voting with my wallet. I'd rather help a good developer survive instead of some crummy dev whose game may just be hyped for no good reason. I'm buying the game because I love id and I love their games.

I'm not bothered about getting Doom 3 again. ID is one of the few developers who are actually good enough to make me want to get their games.

Yup, like the others said - just don't buy it. View this as like a reissued CD by your favourite band with some bonus tracks. If you already have the original on vinyl then YOU get to choose whether or not to spend money again.

I'd say the biggest selling points are the console compatibility and 3D. For hardcoe Doom fans there are a few enhancements and new levels. If none of those appeal to you just don't buy it.
