Cruel Mercy or death? Which do you choose?

Basic question there.

Which is better as a punishment?

Which is more appropriate?

Thar be spoilers down below, ahoy.

Cruel mercy, I feel, is more fitting for revenge. Death is quick and although it punishes the person that's done you wrong,
I feel like sometimes, it's not enough of a payment.

For example, the Overseer.... branding him as a Heretic effectively makes him a pariah and a social outcast, forced to live in
the sewers and rejected by ALL, stripped of everything that he had gotten through his machinations. He is forced to spend
whatever time he has left dwelling on everything that's lead up to that point, with nothing but despair to keep him company, wondering
when he will succumb to the plague.

MUCH more effective.

Cruel Mercy for the Regent is something I feel is infinitely more satisfying than mere death, mostly because it will villify him for the rest of time. On the other hand, there's something simple but effective but karmically killing the High Overseer by switching the wine glasses. It's short but the simple fact he knows EXACTLY what is happening to him is far more effective than just stabbing the guy.

I'm not sure about the ultimate fate of Lady Boyle, that may be TOO evil.

Hmm, well, it DOES depend on individual perception, as far as who deserves what goes and what is a better choice. Which is why
it's so good to have choices, so that individual players can choose whichever route they prefer best as far as how they deal with
the targets goes.

I also found it funny that yon former Overseer is later found, (by you no less), and as a Weeper. He does try his best to attack you, I had to make sure it was him so I dragged his dead body towards some light and lo and behold, the mark of shame on his face. Well deserved fate, though I feel slightly bad. Also considering the ending I got, he could have very well been cured.

Yeah though, I prefer Mercy, albeit somewhat cruel and gray at times. IE. Lady Boyle mission.

My first playthrough I only killed the people that I thought deserved it the High Overseer, Lord Regent and Granny Rags plus some guards and assassins who spotted me. My second playthrough no one lived.... Next playthrough everyone will live. :bunny:

Really?
Can you tell me, which mission you saw him as a Weeper?

It's the mission where you are getting your belongings back from Daud's men. He's the only Weeper down there when you go to retrieve the box they are in. I thought the Weeper looked odd anyway, as he was wearing the clothes of a High Up, the red colors, so I made sure. Sure enough.

It's an optional mission so if you've already done that or didn't do that you could have missed him.
