A small issue

Post » Thu Nov 15, 2012 7:18 pm

I dont know if anyone else has had this problem but when i got the note for the DLC a quest did not show up after that. My house is currently in Whiterun and i went to see the steward for the house but he only gives me the option of adding a childs room to my house.... wtf. I went to each steward at each hold and they told me the same thing every time, u can buy a house IN town but no plots....lol.

I also talked to the Jarl's.. Nothing! BLASPHEMY!

For me I asked the steward of Morthal to buy a house, but he said none are available, but a plot of land is. Did you click on the option to buy a house?

The Jarl/steward of Whiterun doesn't give you a plot of land. There is one is Falkreath though. Try going to Falkreath and seeing if you get the courier

The Jarl/Steward of Falkreath also doesn't sell me one... I'm trying to wait for the courier and see if I get a quest then

You are not going to buy any land unless you are already Thane, if you are not you have to do the usual quests to become Thane, and if you already have a house in that hold, all you can do is change an existing room into a bedroom. It is three of the holds where we never got houses where you can buy land. you do not need to wait for any courier, just go speak to the steward if you are already Thane of that hold.

What are the exact 3 holds which we can get a house in?

I'm getting a house in Morthal without even being thane.. But my note that I got from a courier still had no quest for me, I don't see why Bethesda can't release a DLC and automatically give you a quest for it like on Fallout

You can buy land from the Jarl's steward in Morthal, Falkreath and Dawnstar

If you are Thane you do not need to speak to the Jarl, speak to the steward.

i got multiple notes, one stating buy the childs room for your existing house, one from a jarl saying he has heard of my exploits and would like to talk to me. did his quest and he gave me permission to buy land. spoke to steward and she sold me the plot of land. i had to select purchase a house option and she told me 'no houses are available, but there is a plot of land for sale.' bought that. wasnt thane of falkreath.

I have the exact same problem. I’m level 81, played close to 600 hours with the same Nord. I know what I’m doing when it comes to Skyrim, that’s all I’m saying. But, like you I have been to all the districts, spoken with all the Jarl’s, I have purchased all the houses in the towns and still no land offer. All I got when I first launched the dlc was a courier that gave me a letter from the orphanage and one from the steward of Whiterun saying I can buy a child’s bedroom. I’ve waited and waited a still NO joy.

Just to make sure everything was ok with the dlc I started with a level 9 character that’s only just stared his journey as Dragonborn and hey presto, letter from the Jarl of Falkreath wanting to svck my helmet.

Did your new character have to do a quest for the Jarl first or not? On you first attempt did you exit the game first, before starting the DLC? If you already had it running.

I'm having this same exact issue. I'm level 73 almost 500 hours on my only character and I've started at my save right before I downloaded the dlc and every stinking time all I get is a courier that gives me a letter from the lady at the orphanage and a letter from the Jarl of Whiterun stating that I could change my alchemy room into a child's room. I've fast traveled to every city. I've slept multiple times. I've stood in place in Whiterun for over 24 hours waiting. I've been to the Steward in Falkreath and there is no dialog option to ask about a house. I am Thane in every city. What now?

Other info: I completed the Civil War quest in favor of the Imperials and the Jarl of Falkreath is the young man who replaced his aging father. I don't know if its the same steward, its a female. I was Thane to the previous Jarl.
