Your Opinion on Dishonored

Post » Thu Nov 15, 2012 11:08 pm

I have seen a couple of ads for Dishonored both on television as well as in printed media, but I have to admit that I know almost nothing about the game.

From the commercials, it looks intriguing. It kind of piques one's interest.

I don't really care about spoilers or getting spoiled (so include story and game-play elements if needed to flesh out your responses). What I would like from the community, is honest opinions on this game. What do you think of Dishonored? In your opinions, what are its Strengths/Weaknesses?

In your opinion, would you recommend I buy the game if I were a close friend of yours?

I ask the last question because I'm on the fence with so little knowledge about the subject matter.

Thank you all very much for your time.

Here's my review on my blog.

Overall, yeah, I'd recommend it.

This is the game with the most accurate trailer showcasing gameplay.

Ok, good to go. Thank you to both of you for your feedback.

How does the game-play feel? Stiff, smooth, too loose? Any major problems you've encountered? Hows the story overall?

There are several topics on General that deal with people's opinions on the game and their impressions...as well
as a topic on this forum that deals with story impressions that you might find helpful to your interests.

But for a quick answer.

1. Smooth, intuitive
2. No major problems (PC)
3. Story is somewhat basic, but the world and setting are both superb

Like Sylthia said, the story is average. But the gameplay, replayability, uniqueness and world setting are all strong enough that the game is worth the money imo.

Quite. Basically this. The only real criticism is that the game can do some things better and if it does it will undoubtably be the best game ever. Let's hope the team gets to work on more great projects.

1. The World - Amazing. Dark, gritty, cold and totally immersive.
2. The Plot - Basic. But enough for me. I would love to see a sequel with more choices (basic character background creation maybe?) and politicall twists and turns.
3. The world's background - outstanding job. I love the books and creativity used to describe how it works.
4. The Main Character - this game can't decide if your character is a virtual copy of the gamer, or an actuall character. I would suggest to go to the max of one of these.
5. Gameplay mechanics - I thought that I will never love a stealth game again, when the Thief trilogy ended. I was wrong. You can be really creative when dealing with an assasination. Not only the basic: kill or not kill. But how I am going to do this? Can I make it look like a accident - ofcourse. Can I just come in guns blazing - yep. One thing I would add is the option to blame the assasination on someone else. For example :Possess the targets bodyguard, kill the target, and then escape.

Now let us have a sequel with an option to import saves from the last one, and I will buy it on the first day.
