Can you guys clarify what exactly you have to do in order to buy the land in Hearthfire? I've seen some on here say that you have to be Thane...but I purchased the Falkreath land on my main character and he was not Thane.

So, will a courier show up if you're not Thane, as it did on my main character?

Do you have to have completed a quest line (Like the College of Winterhold) in order to be famous enough for the courier to pop?

A new character I made has been waiting in Dawnstar for 7 days now (game time) and I'm getting bupcus.



A little clarification would go a long way please.

I fast travelled to two different towns and then entered my breeze home. When I went back outside again a courier came running over to me and gave me a note to get the ball rolling.
