Hearthfire logs problem

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 1:46 am

I'm having trouble getting logs playing the hearthfire dlc. I killed hern and co during the dark brotherhood questline and none of the other lumber mill owners have the option to sell me some. I can't get a steward as I haven't built my house yet. Any ideas ? Thanks in advance

If you have a woodcutter's axe I think you can chop your own.

You should have enough logs when you buy the land to build the smallest house and then get a steward

Cheers for the swift replys.

Ive got a woodcutters axe but could only cut firewood at the mill.

I've looked all around the area of the land I brought (the one near falkreath) and all I've got is clay and stone.

Hm, I have the place near Falkreath as well. If you go out the front door and to the right, you'll see a stump for cutting logs. It should be nearby the clay deposits, up a little hill. I haven't tried cutting wood with it but I believe that you can.

I think you need to activate the large logs in the mills. The one the mill owner usually puts through the saw. I believe that is the type of wood needed for house construction, not firewood.

That one only gives me firewood as well. Should I be able to do something with the log pile next the chopping block ? When I push a nothing happens....

Thanks again mate

Once you've got the plot of land, easiest thing to do is go to Riverwood and talk to Hod. Ask him about buying logs. Then ask if you can cut your own, to which he'll say yes.

AFTER him saying yes, go the mill, and use the big log pile to put one in the saw lane. Then go flick the lever to set it sawing.
Rinse and repeat for 10 logs every time.

Note: You HAVE to talk to Hod every time you want to cut your own logs. Doing it without talking to him won't give you the logs.
Note 2: Firewood and the chopping block isn't the same thing. That will, indeed, only give you firewood. The one by your house is only for firewood. You HAVE to go to any sawmill to get wood.

Ah, I was right then in a way, just didn't know you had to speak to the owner before you cut them.
