Are townspeople supposed to die? : V

okay, so when i was in solitude and dragon bridge, vampires came out of NOWHERE, and killed ppl
is this supposed to happen?
if this gets fixed at the end, dont spoil it(not done with dawnguard yet)
if its not, ill have to probably transfer saves to pc and respawn them

Yes it's supposed to happen if the npc's are not essential, it's no glitch or anything.

Does this happen to people who only join the dawnguard or something? I joined the vampires and have not ran into this yet.

No it happens to vampires too. Its just a random event, so if your lucky (or unlucky however you wish to see it) you never or atleast very rarely get one.

Well it happened before too with the random dragon attacks. Offcourse most people seem to stay away from the dragon rising mission becuse of that xD.

I am used to having towns wiped out by dragons, so I suppose this is no different. Poor Riverwood just has a couple kids and some (respawning) guards in it.

I've never had a town get wiped out by a dragon, of course I always kill them before they can or reload to a previous and try to save the people.
