Howdy, this isnt intended as a flame, more like trying to gather facts. I thought Vanilla Vamps (players) would get some upgrades, but i was tinkering with my vampy and havent seen the changes.

1. Vanilla Vamps must be cured to become Vamp Lord?

This seems silly, a new strain is one thing, but i feel it is not necessary. If im a vanilla vamp, can i still join the Volkihar?

2. Vanilla Vamps.. do we get new bite animations?

the trailer showed a standing bite attack, how do you trigger this?

3.Vanilla Vamps can join Dawnguard initially (i think) and have to to join Vamps)

I find this slightly silly that i have to join the dawnguard to become a vampire.. I went to the castle Volkihar and they wouldnt let me in =(

Though fyi, i find this DLC excellent in quality, all the new little armors and stuff i found even before i started dawnguard related questline was awesome!!

4.Clarification needed on stage 4 vanilla vampire.. will i get attacked?

For the feeding on awake enemies animations you have to cast Vampire's seduction on a enemy/villager.

as a Vamp lord only? or Vanilla? and thank you =)

Its for the normal vampire form Volkihar vampires..the gold/amber glowing eyed gaunt faced new strain of Vampire thats the dominant Vampire race in Skyrim Lore wise..the Vampire Lords feed on enemies by using power attacks while enemies are low HP.

I don't know if the lesser Vampires..the red and black eyed ones can do it since I immediatly got corrupted by Serana and joined the Volkihar Vampires.

Untrue! You dont need to be cured (Dawnguard have no way of testing you that early), you simply get upgraded to vampire lord if you accept his gift, even if your a vamp, he even has some special dialoge for it (A vamp lord is just a normal vamp when not in vamp lord form).


It seems to be quest related, but someone also said that you can do it on people if you first use vampire seduction, i myself have never tryed. (Edit: Confirmed on the post above me *facepalm*)


You have to join dawnguard first yea. But if you do it from a "roleplay" perspective you can say that your infiltrating your enemy, and gaining there trust (vampires killing vampires arent wrong, its a norm, so killing the first place to "gain you enemies trust" should be rpish enof, then you get the change to become a vamp lord and take it).

Vanilla, you have to go a day or more without feeding.

so i understand this correctly... theres vanilla vamps , volkihar vamps (different eyes) and Vamp Lords?

If you starve yourself does it boost your VL form or just regular vamp form?

ALL vampires in skyrim is Volkihar vamps (that i know of). There is the vanilla vamp (now with a visual remake: Yellow glowy eyes) and the vamp lord, both are Volkihar.

The radiant quests found in Castle Volkihar inform you that only rogue Volkihar vampires roam in the wilds and their blood has been tainted (reason why they have red and black eyes) so they can't really be called Volkihar and Lore wise there are several types of Vampire in Skyrim, the Volkihar are just the dominant type, they force the other Vampires to live in caves while they live in a Castle.

The quest that tells you that pretty much is the one where you are told to kill a Nightmaster Vampire that is attempting to turn a group of bandits into vampires and that its an insult to the Volkihar and could be a problem if not stopped before hand.

Okey, all vampires in skyrim is of a Volkihar orgin, better?

Could be the Volkihar are the original breed of Vampire or its sad that they forced the first created Vampires into hiding..I personally believe since they are the first created they are the strongest and were set up in Skyrim..so its plausible the Volkihar are what they came to be known as.

So if thats true..all races branch off of them.
