Okay. Gimme your tips to beat Daud on Very Hard

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 6:36 am

Okay, um. So I was trying for 2 hours last night to kill Daud to no avail. I'm very frustrated. Unfortunately, I seem to have wasted some resources leading up to Daud and now I'm sitting with 6 Crossbow bolts, half health, 1 health potion and 6 mana potions. I can peg him in the head with all 6 crossbow bolts and he doesnt F@(#$&($* DIE, yet he can kill me from full health in 2 hits.

I've found the game fun and challenging up until this point on the Very Hard difficulty setting but this battle just seems unfair! I've managed to separate Daud from his assassin buddies by luring Daud outside through the window into the little wrecked area so it's just a one on one fight. Am I doing something wrong? I've literally wondered if this fight is "bugged" in my game because NO other enemy so far (and of course no enemy in real life) could survive 6 crossbow bolts to the head.

And trust me.... His 3 lines that he repeats OVER AND OVER throughout the fight get real freakin tiresome after 2 hours. :swear:

Have you tried knocking him out with choke and drop him in the ground from far up?

Also you can KO him and drown him.

Or KO him and place him in an open door and smash is face in with the door over and over untill he dies.

You can also place 5x spring traps at a door - pull him with crossbow to the head, and train him over the springtraps.

Just blink behind him from the bookshelf and stick your sword in his back...

Well those three lines might be annoying but they are true. If you want to want to challenge him in a straight up fight, then use a lot of spring razors. If you want to take care of him quickly, you will want to use stealth. But that isn't as fun.

Hurrmmmmmmm. Okay, well I've tried to get behind him to use a stealth takedown before and I don't get the context sensitive options for chokehold or assassination from behind.... (playing on xbox by the way). At this point, I just want the fight to be over. Maybe it is bugged and I'll just have to reload an earlier savegame.

You want the fight to be over? Just put the difficulty down. And if it hurts your pride, tell us you didn't do that, pretend you kept it up. ;)

Heh. I actually laughed... There's an element of truth to what you say. Honestly, I have a hard time dealing w/ the fact that I won't get a "Very Hard" plathrough achievement if I tone it down. :) I might just end up having to do this though, to proceed.

Sadly, there are no difficulty-related achievement. I perfectly understand how you would not want to tone down the difficulty for just one boss, though. It's kinda frustrating :)
Can't help you on how to kill him, I went for the "Mercy is the Mark" achievement - leaving him unharmed, with a "message". I failed multiple times though, and got my a$$ seriously kicked by the dude.
