Steam Offline = settings and mission stats gone

So Dishonored has been running fine for me up until I wanted to play the game in a building without wireless (my workplace). I can see my main saves, but my mission stats are gone and all my settings/user interface/things I have changed in the ingame options have returned to default. Also while fiddling around in steam I hit a public computer option and now I won't be able to log into steam until I have wireless access - so I can't even play the game right now. Thanks steam (I am not a fan of third line forcing).

(I am not sure if they, the settings and stats, will return when I have wireless access again. Which doesn't matter since I mostly play games in the wireless-free building and would like to play Dishonored with the settings and mission stats!)

I'm pretty sure it has something to do with Steam and it running offline and saving my settings or something to steam/cloud instead of my laptop. Which pisses me off greatly because I only have steam for this game and I hate using it so much already (I had to install it and make an account just so I could install Dishonored. Steam installation took an hour and kept freezing. Very aggravating)

I filled a form at support gamesas but I'm not sure if I'll hear back as I only had the US and Great Britian as country options when I'm in Australia...

Has anyone found a way around this? I could change all my settings in the .ini folders (which have been untouched since installation) - but this won't help me with future ingame changes and mission stats.
Just, why can't they be saved to my laptop like the game saves?

Info that may or may not be useful:
Retail copy of the game - not that it matters because steam ruined that :|

Windows 7 Premium 64bit
Intel i5-321OM CPU @ 2.50 GHZ
12GB RAM
Directx 11
96 DPI
Intel HD graphics 4000
Nvidia GeForce GT 630M - 2GB dedicated VRAM

Wireless is Acer Npilfy 802.1 1a/g/n - not that this matters because I want to run it in a building with no internet

PS
I had been playing the game since the 14th October no problemo with steam and wireless. It's only now, without wireless, that custom settings and stats are gone

It happens with Steam offline mode. Currently it looks like you have to be connected to the steam cloud to be able to keep your settings etc.

I am waiting for them to fix this issue before I play again. Hopefully there will be a patch soon.

I hope so. As it is, I can't even start it because Steam can't get online and I can't seem to work around the whole "save basic settings to the internet" thing it's got going on.

Shame. I bought Dishonored so I would HAVE a game to play in the building. I would really like to continue it. Aside from this bump of settings/missions/no more achievments, I'm loving the game. So pretty angry at Steam

Edit Update with wireless connection.
I can log back onto steam again. The little tab icon on the task bar says I'm still playing offline (ticked) but everything else requests if I want to go offline so probably an error on steams part. Something about steam cloud syncing popped up so it's connected.

My custom user interface and graphics is still default
More importantly my mission stats are still gone, so kind of very angry. I wasn't going to replay any missions until after I finished the game just so I COULD keep track of the stats. The option to replay the missions is there, but the stats from my first go through are not.

So...where did my Mission stats go? What was the point of finding all those items and secret places for it to dissapear? >:\

I contacted both gamesas support and Bethesda tech (I also sent a query to the Arkane tech support and steam report but no reply yet and don't expect any new info). They both said basically the same thing with trouble shooting through steam offline and steam cloud settings. One of the tech's did a follow up reply last night though (awfully nice encounter, and very prompt replies.)

I did some more research on this, and it seems like the settings for the game are saved via Steam Cloud and through that method only. This means that in offline mode, the settings will always reset.

I'm sending this issue up to the developers to see if there will be a workaround or patch for this particular problem, as searching forums shows that this is a problem for many people. At the moment, it seems that the only way to get these settings to stick is to edit the .ini files manually and setting the files to read only, which can be a bit of a pain and we can't really advise it.

Keep an eye on Bethblog.com and our forums for patch release information and future updates. We do apologize for the inconvenience, and hope you continue to enjoy Dishonored.

So I'm just going to wait and see for now and not play Dishonored when I'm without the internet. I can't see anything else I can do. I've determined both settings and mission stats are saved to the options.sav folder, but I don't know enough to tell steam offline to load that instead of defaults.

On the plus side, I got my mission stats back (reloaded pastsaves from near the end of the mission and refinished them) and I had a pleasant experience with the tech support. c:

Sweet, I hope that happens soon.
