I think I ruined my chance at clean hands, can it be saved?

I misunderstood and thought the achievement was for playing through a level without killing, not the entire game. I've been playing entirely non-lethal by choice, but because I was still new to the game mechanics during Campell's mission, unintentionally killed some folk. At the end of the mission, I had a very small kill and detection tally (I guess some rats found one of the unconscious bodies, I dropped one off too high of a ledge, or accidentally used a lethal bolt ). I just shrugged it off and thought "I'll get it next mission, now that I actually have some competence."

Well, I completed "House of Pleasure" with absolutely no kills or detections after hours of scouring the map for items. The achievement didn't pop, I checked the description and thought: "[censored]." I do not want to start an entire new game, recollect all those runes and bones, undo hours of work, just to fix a few accidental kills. Now there's almost no point in going non-lethal from here on, even though I really want to, because then I'll have to replay the entire game the same way twice. I originally wanted to play non-lethal, then follow that up with all kinds of brutality. Now it's looking like "Non-lethal with one accidental kill/detection" play-though, "non-lethal clean hands/ghost" play-though, then "cut loose, have fun, and kill everything" play though. Not what I had in mind.

My question is: I noticed that there is a "mission select." If I continue playing from "Royal Physician" onwards without getting kills/detections like I originally intended, can I later go back and replay "High Overseer Campell" though mission select and will that count toward the achievement?

I enjoy non-lethal. I don't kill guards that are just doing their jobs (I've been framed for murder, let's kill half the city. That'll show them I'm not a murderer). I love the "worse than death" punishments. I just don't want to do two non-lethal/ghost play-throughs because of a noob-mistake. One is frustrating enough.

No, you have to start from new game and play all the way through to get the achievement.

Great. So I've screwed myself.

Guess that means I can continue playing non-lethal without stressing out about detection/unintentional kills as much, which actually might up the enjoyment. I was getting pretty frustrated with all the "reload last save" mashing. Then, I'll do a kill-run. If, in the far future, I feel like playing through a third time, I'll go for the achievements. It just kind of svcks that I've blown my chance this time around, considering I play non-lethal/detection naturally.

You only have to redo from where you failed.

I failed getting ghost achievement in mission 7 and still completed the game.
Then I went back and redid the game from mission 7 to end and got ghost.

If you failed on mission 2, you dont need to do mission 1 over. Just go to mission select menu and start from mission 2.
