Dawnguard Game Mechanics: Is Speech More Prevalent Now?

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 11:59 am

Hey folks

Just as the title says, did Dawnguard add a number of quests that can be solved non violently for silver tongued characters?

Or is "I kill you now" still pretty much the only option for dealing with your enemies?

Perhaps, and while I never thought you could broker a truce between the Dawnguard and Vampire Lords (even if I think you should have had that option for the Civil War and this), I don't see why the solution to every problem seems to be from the http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0cPvN6XF58U.

...Can you imagine the BS writing that would have come from negotiating peace between bloodsvcking monsters and the adrenaline monkeys that want to kill them?

Fallout New Vegas was great for this... there were so many times I felt I should have put more points into speech than combat because of how much extra work I had to do for failiing speech challenges. It took it to an extreme ... when you came up against the final epic super hyped-up baddy boss at the end of the game, you could simply talk him out of it :D

I look at it the same I look at Dragons. Not all dragons willing followed Alduin, and if you could use Speech to recruit allies, incite a coup, and take over, you could convince your opponent that you guys don't necessarily have to be enemies.

Edit: I can't believe your name is censored when I quote you, "He-LadyoftheEveneing-mains."
