Strange thing in the art dealer house. (possible spoiler)

Has anyone noticed the wooden basket type object by the puller in the room with the combination safe room? It has a number on it and I automatically thought combination for the lock! But it didn't work.

Has anyone else found this where the number worked, I'm wondering if the number is a deliberate red herring or a glitch in the game, from what I've read the number combination can differ, I'm just wondering if the number on the wooden basket,167 in my case is the same for everyone.

There are numbers all over this game, often making me think that I'm missing some cool hidden code or easter egg.

I've noticed 3-digit numbers on paintings (no, not the Pratchet house), on the back of those metal barriers that the city guard use, on some inert gauges that have no useful purpose in the game.

I wonder if there is something to it or if we are just mentally tuning ourselves to seeing 3-digit numbers simply because that's what the safes use.

Well I know the safe in the doctors house has a painting with the safe number on it, as well as his journal, I noticed it after I'd read the journal. I agree there are a lot of numbers around but some seem more prominent than others, what I mean is they don't seem to be part of the texture on the object, as in slightly pixelated, if you get my meaning.

I know what you mean about tuning in to 3 digit numbers though, perhaps your right.

Actually, those wooden baskets can be found at multiple locations throughout the game. They all bear the same number, 167 as you noticed :)

I had exactly the same reaction as you, trying that as a code in the art dealer mansion, but let's be real here : it would have been EXTREMELY farstretched to put the safe code on a laundry basket that could have been anywhere. Talk about security. And, after all, Arkane did a good job at making a credible world here. The code being just displayed there would not have been making any sense :P

I hope I wouldn't even have to load the Golden Cat map, though. That would have been very fun. Well there still was Emily to find, but yet...

I never noticed it on other baskets, I'll have to look out for them lol. But as I've said in the doctors house the code for his safe is on one of the paintings in the room and the journal, it not like they made that one hard to find.

Another strange thing, which I believe is a bug is, when playing non lethal, some times when hiding a body temporarily before hiding them in a dumpster when you return to pick them up they've vanished. I compleated the Golden Cat with all conditions met bar one body discovered, which was the one that vanished, the reason I know is I disposed of every other one into a dumpster. The game is great and I agree Arkane have managed to create quite a realistic game, but there are a few bugs that need addressing, if they manage to address them this game should be a classic.
