Where are the bee hives?

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 4:48 am

In the trailer for Hearthfire, it showed an apiary (where bees are kept), but I don't have the option to get one. I was just wondering if only some houses could get it, or it it only became available if you build certain wings. Anyone know?

How built is your house? You can't get any of the outside stuff until the base house is built. Also, which property are you on? Cause for all I know it's not available in certain areas.

It's pretty much built. I just have to build the north wing and I'll be done. And I chose the Morthal property. Maybe it just isn't available for this one.. In which case, I'll be quite sad, since I wasn't able to get Falkreath.

Hm. Well that's the house I have and I've got an apiary. You make it at the outdoor carpenter bench and it's only available once you've built the first section of the house. Other than that, which I'm sure you already knew, there's not a whole lot I can tell you.

Edit - That was directed at Neo. Citrus, I bet it's not available in Morthal since it's a swampy area but I dunno. Maybe someone who has the Hjallmarch house can help more.

Edit edit - Also, why couldn't you get the Falkreath one?

I think it's because the steward is dead. At least, I think the dead body lying on the floor of the jarl's longhouse is the steward. I also can't get the Dawnstar one, but I think that's because I have yet to do a Giant quest for the the jarl.

Is the dead guy named Halverd? Or, easier to answer, are you a member of the Dark Brotherhood? Cause I had the same issue. He's a side-contract for Nazir. The only way I found to fix it is siding with the Stormcloaks and getting Dengeir and Tekla to take over.

Oh! I guess I didn't know about Tekla. I searched until I found her, and I managed to buy land in Falkreath. Thank you!

Sorry for a bit of a spoiler, but each house has 1 special thing that you can build outside. Falkreath's has a apiary, Morthal's is a fish hatchery, and Dawnstar's is a grain mill.

Citrus - No problem I'm here to help =)
Neo - Actually that's good to know. Funny thing, the lack of a fish hatchery hadn't even occured to me until just now.

Spoiler
The apiary would be better if it had the odd bee flying around outside of it, like with the beehives in the wild. But no, nothing. Not even a buzzing sound as you approach it. All you can do is activate it to collect bees and honeycombs.

Beehive is only at falkreath house. The other houses get their own special feature, such as a fish hatchery

I was able to make an apiary very early on for Falkreath.

The mill?

The house furthest north is Morthal's and has the fish hatchery. The one in the middle closest to Whiterun has the mill. The house furthest south has the apiary So you were right Dawnstar's got the mill.
