Well the Morthal plot is nice as it's near the sea, could build yourself a seaside castle or more accurately a stone manor. Falkreath plot is deep in the forest I think so you could have a nice wooden manor there, I don't know take a look at the images of the plots and see which one you fancy more.

Well you can build stone manor houses.

The Pale plot has barely any snow. It's basically Whiterun plain surroundings.

Having built on both properties, I have to say that the Falkreath home is most excellent for my tastes. Built a hunter's lodge with my bosmer hunter. I totally love being on a hill overlooking that gorgeous lake and having pine trees all around. Plus that lake is a hot spot for wildlife and that's how my hunter makes his dough.

Depends on your character, the morthal swamps suit my evil wizard character better with the usual fog and half dead looking trees the stonehenge type rocks around there. Falkreath seems a little big more like a quaint summer cottage on a lake, so for a good guy character Falkreath, for a bad one Morthal, just for my tastes anyways. The pale is well just kind of odd.

I'm a bit disappointed that you can't choose a snowy place, even in the Pale.

I don't have the DLC yet, but I've seen lots of complaints about Falkreath... unless your heart is set on Cyrodiil-like forests, maybe choose another site.
